[edit] Japan Province Map
Hello. I saw your maps and thought your effort was admirable. But I reverted it because those were defferent work with older versions. Please read Image talk:Japan prov map aki.png - Kinori 14:24, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image names
You can't really rename images -- you have to reupload with a new name, and then delete the one with the old name. It's probably not really worth the effort. AnonMoos 15:41, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- Only an admin can delete. To request that an image you uploaded be deleted, remove all categories and license tags from the image description page, and replace them with something like uploaded under an incorrect name, sorry AnonMoos 14:54, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- P.S, There's apparently a special-purpose template badname... AnonMoos
[edit] Re: your request
I've deleted your page. It's nice and red again ;-). NielsF 20:21, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your request
I'm sorry but I'm at the moment (at least for the next couple of days) only here to answer to talk messages and I don't have the time to look into your request(s). Please post them on COM:DEL, because PNG --> SVG conversion is a bit contested in general. Cheers, NielsF 01:08, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images
Please stop changing those images of the thirteen emperors scroll. You, by completely changing the resolution of the images, is very disrespectful to the images' original uploaders, such as User:Jonathan Groß. If these images are of grainy and terrible quality, and you update them to a clearer and brighter resolution, that would be absolutely fine. But completely changing the images is not okay. Not to mention the resolution on your version of the images is simply too "dark". Thanks, please stop changing the images.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 00:24, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- However, there is "nothing wrong" with the images User Jonathan Groß uploaded; the brightness of the original image is fine and it appears more clear and easier to see than the version you uploaded; your version of the image is not better.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 06:24, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- You changing a perfectly fine image's resolution is entirely a personal preference as well. You are basically saying you like "your version" better. However, do not change images uploaded by other users.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 19:07, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Stop revert and paste over the originally uploaded images in the paintings of the Thirteen Emperors Scroll. If you like your darker resolution of the images so much, upload these paintings separately, but DO NOT replace the original uploader's (User:Jonathan Groß) images. It is unacceptable and unencyclopedic to paste your version over another user's image, especially when the user's images are perfectly fine. Just upload another set of images. If you continues to revert and paste over the originally uploaded images, without a valid reason, then it constitutes as vandalism.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 00:16, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- You can upload another set of images, however, you WILL NOT vandalize another user's images. That is simply unacceptable under any rule.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 01:03, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
If you can't respond to my comments in a coherent manner and answer my comments in your talk page (Don't Lie to Me as you only responded), I can't take you as a serious editor and you are simply doing vandalism on these images.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 01:08, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Prove what? Compose in complete sentences please.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 01:14, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- What is your reasoning of uploading images over User:Jonathan Groß's original images? Can you gave a justified and valid reason? The images of the Thirteen Emperors Scroll uploaded by Jonathan Groß are fine, but you insist on uploading another version over these images. THAT IS your "personal opinion", it means you prefer your version over the original uploaders. If you like your version better, then upload another set of images, its that simple.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 01:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- I already told you, you can simply upload your images separately. That way, we can keep all versions of these paintings in the Wikimedia Commons.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 01:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Listen, just upload a new set of images (the version you preferred), and I assume you know how to upload images right? Don't change original uploader Jonathan Groß's uploaded version. We can keep all versions of the painting on the Commons.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 01:50, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- It is not a Commons rule that you upload over another user's images, especially when the version you uploaded is a drastic different version than the original uploader's.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 02:01, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Look at the Source description of each image, because there is a source for every one of these images, and going into the source and upload a hi-res images based on the source. The image and its source needs to be the same. The version you uploaded is completely different than the source's version, and you CAN'T upload a version that is different than the source's. You can upload a bigger version, but it needs to be the same image as the original uploader's, because the images is sourced.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 02:19, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
However, you uploading a different version over another user's original image is also because of your personal preferences.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 02:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Your changes
Since you changed the source, now the image should be fine. However, I still prefer you upload another set of images instead of pasting over the original version by Jonathan Groß, since they are quite different.
Now, you need to fix the source on all of the images, because I know that you did not fix the source description on all the images you changed, but only a few.
Your work is also not done yet. For consistency, you also need to change the images resolution for
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Chen_Xuandi_Tang.jpg
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cao_Pi_Tang.jpg
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sun_Quan_Tang.jpg
The images from the Thirteen Emperors Scroll need to match the new version you uploaded, since you changed a lot of them.
More over, you directly sourced the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. You'll need to find out about the copyright status the museum issues (Image Rights) and make sure its okay for Commons. I know some museums does not allow fair use image from their internet websites, and it is against the law to do so. And in any case if the images you uploaded violated the museum's copyright status, you would be held accountable for it. That is why you need to make sure the copyright status of the Museum of Fine Arts is perfectly okay for you to upload.--HéctorTabaré (talk) 03:01, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello Πrate!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.
To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.
-
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:
-
-
This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.
For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.
The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.
Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.
