[edit] braille.pl

Hello! I am a user from the English Wikipedia and wish to know how you use your braille.pl script to create the images. I am very interested in your reply. Kind regards, Extranet 06:00, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

You simply run it and it generates the files in the current directory. --  (talk) 13:02, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:ISO 639 Icon pt.svg

Hi,

I have some recent problems with an image your bot (3247's Image Wizard) has made in 2006. The image is this one : ISO 639 Icon pt.svg Using firefox 3.0.4 it seems that a thumbnail of the svg shifts the text to right. This does not happen with others pictures like the ones for «en» or «de». There is also ISO 639 Icon tr.svg wich has the same problem.

You can see here different sizes of the picture : ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (20px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (30px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (40px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (50px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (60px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (70px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (80px). Only 30px and 50px have problems.

But 30px is the commonly used size in the traduction project for each language on the fr wiki (see for example fr:Projet:Traduction/*/Demandes). Could it be possible to improve the picture so that no problem occurs ? Thanks for you attention, Fryderyk (d) 23:04, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

The same problem seems to occur on Opera 9.62.
If you can read french, here is a discussion. Fryderyk (d) 05:25, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Strange. The images are converted to PNG by MediaWiki, so it must be a bug in MediaWiki's SVG rendering engine. (And of course, it will occur with every browser.)
It seems that 30, 35, 45 and 50px are affected but that 29px/31px are ok: ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (20 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (21 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (22 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (23 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (24 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (25 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (26 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (27 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (28 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (29 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (30 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (31 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (32 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (33 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (34 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (35 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (36 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (37 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (38 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (39 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (40 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (41 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (42 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (43 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (44 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (45 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (46 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (47 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (48 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (49 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (50 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (51 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (52 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (53 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (54 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (55 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (56 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (57 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (58 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (59 px), ISO 639 Icon pt.svg (60 px)
Maybe you could just use 29 or 31px as a workaround until the bug is fixed. 3247 (T) 19:46, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Turned out to be an old bug that has already been fixed long ago. However, the cache had to be purged. -- 3247 (T)

Thanks ! Now it's OK. Fryderyk (d) 06:29, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi ! It seems that the problem occurs again for some unknown reason. I tried to purge the cache but this time it did not solve anything. Fryderyk (d) 13:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

It was reported on several occasions that there is something fishy going on with font replacements in the last few weeks. It seems that scaling can produce unexpected results when the image servers running the PNG conversion do not have the given font family. In addition, I am not at all sure librsvg can really handle multiple entries for fonts. So, you might consider replacing "Helvetica" as the first font with "Nimbus Sans L", which is installed here. At least for File:ISO 639 Icon pl.svg it seems to help. User:Sémhur suggests "DejaVu Sans Condensed", which from a technical standpoint makes no difference, it's also installed. I see it solely as a design issue. Nimbus is a Helvetica clone, so the difference to what was seen before is minimized. --Hk kng (talk) 22:20, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Hello, I've uploaded it with Nimbus Sans L like Hk kng says. It works fine. This font is a good alternative to replace Helvetica. Sémhur (talk) 10:16, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
