Talukas mal wieder …[edit]

Hallo, ich hoffe, Du schaust wieder hier vorbei. Hast Du Category:Talukas of India, Category:Talukas of Indian Punjab u.a. von 78.145.36.196 schon gesehen? Das scheint ja wirklich hartnäckig zu sein. Was tun?

Deutschland (Gemeinde/Bundesland) und USA (municipality/state). Liebe Grüße, 84.75.160.122 01:02, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Kategoriendiskussionen sollen regristrierten UserInnen vorbehalten bleiben ;-)

Bilateral relations of India[edit]

All categories in these types of category, for all countries, are in alphabetical order. Please stop. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 23:52, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, alphabetical order is relatively, i.e. India- respectively Relationship-country, or conterwise, related. There's absolutely no need to delete established categories, instead of using a redirect and so 'deleting' the version histories and the work of other wikipedians enthusiasts ... Please stop that strange and imho unfriendly behaviour, too ! Regards, 84.75.160.122 23:58, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, yes, alphabetical order is relative, but no country takes precedence over another. By placing India first in all categories, it denies consistency for the subcategories for other countries. This is not a lottery, with users having to guess which country comes first based on the national origins of the editor who first created the category in question. Therefore, the standard for all bilateral categories for all countries is to place the countries in alphabetical order. That is the consistent standard used across the project, and categories that are not inconsistent with that format are deleted. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 00:04, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I never responded to your comment about deleting redirects. The principle that redirects are deleted was drilled in to me by Foroa and other users. It's not something I was doing to antagonize you, but it's generally standard practice as far as I can tell. I don't feel that strongly about it myself, but it's probably a larger issue that would have to be addressed elsewhere. I hope that helps. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 01:09, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, absolutely no problem. Personally i prefer redirects for 'good' (yes, relatively, again ;-)) categories, so version histories will be kept, or, commonsdelinker for the same reasons. In addition, bots will redirect 'automatically' media that were 'miss-categorized', too. That's why i became 'nervous', sorry about the incoveniences. Thanks again and best regards, 84.75.160.122 01:15, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Category discussion warning

Category:Women_freedom_fighters has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
