En français[edit]

Bonjour !

Abrahami 17:40, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

You have to specify a license for your images, use PD-self if you want to realse your images free for everyone, otherwise se GFDL/CC licenses. --Denniss 22:52, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Philippe I de France, Duc d'Orleans dit Monsieur[edit]

Hi Abrahami!

I have a question about the image Louis14-Versailles1685.jpg. Could you indicate me in the picture Philippe I de France, Duc d'Orleans dit Monsieur? (And also other characters if you can?) Thanks a lot

Leo

Hello Leo, I think Monsieur is the one in black jacket just behind his brother, the King. No idea for the others. Abrahami 13:58, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Disocactus ackermannii.JPG[edit]

This is not Disocactus ackermanni, but a hybrid called Disocactus x hybridus or Disocactus 'Hybridus' - both names are allowed by the code. The true D. ackermannii has lighter red flowers with characteristic violet stigma lobes. This is a VERY common mistake, since the hybrid has been called 'Ackermannii' for decades.

Coccinellidae pupae[edit]

Hi Abrahami,

Thanks for the nice pictures of pupae (!) I do have sone doubts however about te captions and determination? It seems to mee these two pictures are not of the same pupa. In fact, looking at the brushes on the skin that is left at the base of the pupa I would suggest that the first picture (Image:Larve_coccinelle.jpg) is a Harmonia axyridis, or maybe some other species with long white brushes (for the Netherlands I cannot think of one). The second one (Image:Coccinelle mue.jpg) might very well be a Coccinella septempunctata as indicated - here the skin at the base is consistent with the lower brushes on C. 7-punctata. Could it be that you mixed some pictures up? Pudding4brains 23:46, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi Pudding4brains, I'm not sure of the determination and I'm not a Coccinella specialist so if you are one, please correct the names of the species as you think. TRhank you for your help. Abrahami 19:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi Abrahami, I'm not a "specialist" of any kind and only just now learning a little about Coccinellidae larvae/puppae, but on the basis of what I've learned sofar it seemed strange that the captions suggested these two were the same animal a few hours apart. If you're not quite sure that they are, I'll rely on what little I think to know about it and change the descriptions etc around. Cheers Pudding4brains 09:50, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
In fact this is not the same animal, th~ese are just different pictures to show the process of metamorphosis. Sorry if you understood it was the same animal. Please do the corrections. Abrahami 16:38, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, Abrahami!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Carte des 4 Périgords[edit]

Bonjour Abrahami.
