Thumbnailnote on Garmo Stave Church Winter (edited).JPG[edit]

Frankly I have no idea why you tagged this image like that, and according to the tag you should notify me, which you hasn't.

The image (Image:Garmo Stave Church Winter (edited).JPG) will not be uploaded under the old name as this will destroy the possibility to use the original for further copies. I will not upload a larger image as this is not of sufficient quality to justify a larger version. The original is linked on the image page and it is available. The license is not changed and the original source is attributed.

The edited image is now in use in articles at several wikipedias so pleace do not remove it.

I tagged Image:Garmo Stave Church Winter (edited).JPG with {{thumbnail}} because it is a thumbnail of the original image.
Your statement, "as this will destroy the possibility to use the original for further copies", is wrong. Since you are not an administrator here, nothing you can do can possibly delete images. The original will always be exactly where it is, unless an administrator deletes it. Cheers, User:dbenbenn 02:30, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Nearly none of my previously uploaded images have alternate revisions, aka admins do remove revisions. I am not going to replace the original. An image with a height of 1600px can hardly be called a thumbnail, stil it is not an original it will never be of the same quality. — John Erling Blad (jeb) 13:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Could you provide a specific example to justify the claim "Nearly none of my previously uploaded images have alternate revisions, aka admins do remove revisions." I have checked some of your uploads, and haven't found any example where an old version has been deleted. User:dbenbenn 20:31, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
I have not found any deletions, even of images I have several revisions of on my own computer. Because I know I've changed my mind several times while working on some of the articles I'm a bit worried whats going on. I didn't notice this myself but someone on an other large European wikipedia asked me if I had noticed anything like this. Then I checked and found nearly no images with alternate revisions.
Of course it could be that I'm in fact didn't upload those other revisions. It could also be that I have a completely wrong idea about how I work, and that I'm in fact do work much more orderly then I envision. Unfortunately I don't think this is the case.
Right now I'm not very much concerned about my own previous revisions. What I am concerned about is the current deletion policy on commons. The discussions at "signpost" and replies from other users seems to indicate that there are no problem to delete original contributions.

template information[edit]

I beg your pardon. I will solve all the problems caused by my blunder. My regards. --ßøuñçêY2K 10:36, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

the fact is this: i've always seen many picture with license in the template. Moreover, the template is not well explained. --ßøuñçêY2K 14:00, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Hva slags lisens er dette: Image:Uvdal stave church.jpg? Hva innebærer det at lisensholderen beholder kopirettighetene men at bildet fritt kan distrbueres ...?

--Frode Inge Helland 17:46, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

— John Erling Blad (no) 12:36, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

FlickrLickr copyright[edit]

re: Image:John Arne Riise statue.jpg, I only run the bot that uploads the pictures from Flickr; the actual photo was selected by Para. When you notice pictures uploaded by FlickrLickr, you will find the person who reviewed and selected the photo under "Reviewer:" on the image description page.--Eloquence 23:53, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

My BOT[edit]

Uhm, If I tell you that my Bot is not the only mad one running on Commons? That also User:CommonsDelinker (which has two admins as developer and owner) does the same job? Mine is already a bit better than CommonsDelinker (it adds also a welcome if the user hasn't a talk page) and I don't see the problem. If a user hasn't added a license because he had forgotten or because he didn't know that he must add it, a "memo" could be really useful (the licenses are needed, to categorize images and information like "self-made" don't say what is the license, shall I add {{pd-self}} or {{GFDL-self}} or one of the cc-by?). So... I think that my Bot isn't so bad to be stopped :-) Bye, --Filnik 09:26, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
