Images like Image:Opampintegrating.svg are great, except the asymmetry of the op-amp symbol really irritates me.  :-) Can you move the minus signs in all of your op-amps so they're symmetrical with the plus signs (equally far from the op-amp's line of symmetry)? — Omegatron 13:34, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

you are right, but I never noticed it! it looks like it's a bug in Xcircuit's library... As far as I know, you can't edit standard symbols within Xcircuit (unless you go to modify the source...), so you have to do it in post-processing programs like Inkscape. I can't think about any Inkscape shortcut to do it exactly, and doing it manually would be a huge waste of time. If you want to do it, go for it; you might also contact the creator of Xcircuit and ask him to fix it (it should be something very easy) Alessio Damato 18:10, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

It uses PostScript, but to tell the truth I deleted all the sources of the circuits I have published: they all looked perfect to me so I didn't think I would have the need to work on it. If you write it from scratch it's very fast. I normally waste more time in post-processing, creating text with proper subscripts is more complicated than I thought, but then you can copy and paste from my images. The page Talk:Instrumentation_amplifier#Gain_equation does not exist: which image are you refering to?? what do you want to improve?? Alessio Damato 18:10, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

I like the picture of a Turing machine, Maquina.png, but wouldn't it make more sense for the squares to be either black or white instead of shades of grey. I think this would make it easier to demonstrate that it is reading ones and zeros. Thanks -Hyad 07:45, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I didn't create the picture, I just got the original version (that was in GIF format and already published in Commons), converted losslessly in PNG and optimized it. If you want to change the picture itself, you have to try to contact the original author, that is Schadel. It doesn't really matter too much. The only reason I asked it that I'm not really skilled at editing pictures. But doesn't the {{PD-self}} template mean anyone can edit the picture, so no one needs to contact the original author if they want to change it. (Also, I don't know Spanish either, so that probably would make contacting him kind of hard. :) ) I noticed that since you converted the image, perhaps changing the colors wouldn't be too hard. But like I said, the colors don't matter much - I guess I'm just nitpicking. Great job on converting the image to PNG format. -Hyad 21:36, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

in this case it is not possible, unless you have the original source to be rendered to create the 3D image. I don't even know the program that was used. You have to contact the author because, if he still has the source, it's just a matter of 10 minutes. Moreover, he might export in PNG directly, without passing throught GIF, thus providing a hight quality of the image. I will try to contact him in the future. Thanks for the response. I see your point. I only thought of changing the colors if it would be relatively easy to do. yes, you are right. I couldn't get anything smoother with Octave. I think the solution would be to work directly in Gnuplot, without using Octave, but I couldn't do it so easily. I'll try again as soon as I have some time Alessio Damato 11:30, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

it looks better, the noise removal is more evident in the sky. How did you do it?

anyway, I wonder why the picture is so noisy... maybe because the light was too strong (summer in Italy is very hot!), I could come back there when the light is milder, e.g. in October, and re-take the pictures. Alessio Damato 09:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello Alejo2083, obviously this stitching error seam in your Talamone panorama is even more visible in the foreground vertically underneath the church. I presume you have optimised pitch, yaw, roll and barrel in hugin. May I suggest you change to custom parameters and select the x and y (e and f) parameters as well for optimisation. Make sure you have a dozen or more control points, finetuned and suitably spread in the overlapping area, it helps. -- Klaus with K 18:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

thanks for giving me some suggestions: I have stitched several panoramas recently and they had all minor errors I didn't notice at first. Because of this, for some of them I think I have deleted the original pictures...

That would be a pity. I make a point in keeping both input images and pto file.

I'll look for them or I'll try to re-take as soon as I have the chance. Those are the steps I followed to create those (wrong) panoramas:

1. load the pictures in autopano-sift and create the control points. I have used the following settings: resolution 1400 (with my computer I can't go further), unlimited nuber of control points (it usually creates about 100-200 for each couple), no refinement step because it is really slow.

I set control points manually in hugin. I find that autopano-sift tends to choose poorly. I usually go for 10-12 points per image pair, but as few as 5 or 6 may be ok if well chosen. Quality before quantity, and sometimes one need to switch on "enable rotational search" in the fine-tuning preferences.

1. load the output.pto in hugin. I usually optimize position and view, if it's not enough I try "everything", but I didn't use it for any of the recent panoramas. I always use rectilinear projection.

"Everything" should be ok, although I dislike using the parameters a and c for mathematical reasons. After a recent repair I find x-shift(d) and y-shift(e) very important for my camera lense. Make sure you include "barrel" in the option you use, that could easily be the reason for the images misalignment.

1. stitch the pictures using enblend. If I see some errors, I try to delete some parts in the single TIFF files that hugin creates to feed enblend, and then I run enblend by myself. This approach gave good results (e.g. for Image:Galleria borghese facade.jpg that is QI). I didn't even try to fix stitching errors for the panoramas of Talamone because I didn't see them at first.

There is a new version, enblend3.0, the new seam finder tries to avoid areas where the overlapping images are different. Editing the alpha channels in the TIFF is fine, but with enblend3 I have to do it only rarely now. And enblend3.0 runs faster as well.

have you any suggestions? what are the parameter x, y and f you told me about? aren't they optimized if I choose one of the standard settings in the "drop down" menu? (I mean, aren't they included in "everything"?). Thanks Alessio Damato

As above, x-shift(d) and y-shift(e). With my misaligned lense axis I need them big time. I tend to start optimising with "start from anchor", then with the images reasonably in place I tended to go for "yaw, pitch, roll and barrel" or "everything", depending on optimisation quality. -- Klaus with K 15:05, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Someone recently posted a comment about your image, on en:Talk:Huffman coding. Basically, it looks like the codes for a3 and a4 in the example are swapped round. Is that just a glitch, or something else, e.g. a side-effect of the algorithm?

Your Schmitt trigger SVG:

is very nice, but it would be better if:

• The double-Zener dombination was drawn like a double-anode Zener diode (DAZD). That is, flip the order of the Zener's so that the anodes are both facing "out." DAZD's are sold that have matched Zeners, and it would be proper to draw them with anodes "out."
• The "Z" on the top of the Zener should look like a Z (not an S). The "Z" is consistent with it being a "Z"ener, and it resembles the Zener's i–v curve.

Hello Alejo, you "declined" my picture of the Confucius temple on QIC bcs of an overexposed sky. I can tell you that the sky is not overexposed - the sky actually looked like that. And if you check the colours in Gimp or your tool of choice you can see that the colours in the sky are not overexposed. Would be nice if you could have a second look on my pic.
