[edit] L'Illustration
I put a lot of images in commons about the Russo-Japanese war I took from L'Illustration ( book I payed a lot of money) I signed with my name loki11 and the images date from 1904 (more than 100 years old) I am very surprised you put them on a deletion request so let me know your motives Thank you
- If you paid money or not for the book, and who scanned the images, is totally irrelevant. What we need to know is the authors' names of the illustrations. For many files, I and other users have added the names and researched the dates of death of the authors. If these people are more than 70 years dead, the illustrations are in the public domain, and the license is {{PD-old}}. If not, the scans are a copyright violation. --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 16:29, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Could be you are right. But if every picture in Commons had to satisfy on the rigorous requires we had not to donate to keep the Wiki as we do now because the encyclopedia value should be considered of little attraction with unpleasant conclusions as result for Wiki If it was a "page" in Wiki , I am of your opinion but now it is for all those who look for a picture of an assault with fixed bayonets. Meanwhile I think I saw your remark on one of the other pictures I put in Commons. It is about an aerial . I received this picture from the municipal administration when I was , on demand of the Commonwealhwargraves , doing research around the Schelde. If it had given some problems I think they should't send it. On the other side it is not a cristal clear one. I was thinking on the term chauvinism but if you take a look on http://www.loki1.be/bundesarchiv.html I think I have nothing to reproach myself the more I am not unknown also by the Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge in Kassel as a "donor" Yours truly .Loki11
