Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page, write this: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], it makes this: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|Correct name}}

Comments Light not the best, but I think it's QI. Dori 02:20, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just looked at that image in QI. GIMP eh? It needs some additional cropping on the right and lower edges and you might as well crop away those weird highlights from the rocks near the lower edge while you are at it.

Did you use other software before GIMP? -- carol (talk) 00:52, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. And it's coming from UFRaw which I use to convert from the raw before I use GIMP. I had thought that priors ones were the result of a miss-crop after rotating but apparently not. Thanks for catching this. Basar (talk) 03:16, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can ask that declined images be discussed, even your own. I would discuss the decline of this image, except for it smells like an lame attempt to keep up the Christian analogies there and that has a "nicer odor" without the rental user there. -- carol (talk) 21:16, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, looks like someone did that for me and that it'll pass. Basar (talk) 02:51, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I used to have a joke about a lake that I lived near but did not see that often. Lake Erie. In the seventies, the pollution of those lakes was very much a subject that was on the news often and in politicing (the Clean Water Act was then). There was a local rumor that Lake Erie had caught on fire once also. That is the background for my joke. The joke was something like: Lake Erie, where walking on water is no big deal. That being said, there does seem to be a relationship between the cleanliness of the Great Lakes and the unemployment levels in that area....
Your image is good enough, much better than mine that are similar and not as good as several I have seen there. For whatever that is worth :) -- carol (talk) 03:15, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
