I'm situated in the cross timber region of central Oklahoma. I have a few trees on my property that are similar to this photo. There are an abundance of Post Oak and Chinkapin on the property. Being that they are both in the White Oak family, I suppose this tree could be a hybrid of the two.
- Although it is possible that this is a hybrid, I believe it is actually Quercus sinuata var. breviloba, commonly called "scrub oak" (see Image:Quercus stellata.jpg). It is in the White oak family, as you said. –Benjamin (talk) 22:28, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
