[edit] Wikipedia-Lexikon

Hello Bibi :). For you're Information: In Germany this Week a Lexikon was published. What this have to do with you? You're listed under the photographers. But I can't say wich picture(s) is/are from you. It's not a small project, it's a book published by one of germans mayor publishers. Marcus Cyron (talk) 20:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for the information. I'll have a look at it next time I'll go to Germany (which should be in October).

[edit] Staatliche Antikensammlungen München, exhibition "Starke Frauen"

Hello Bibi,

I was in exhibition "Starke Frauen" and had the chance to take some photos. Are you satisfied with the new Category:Staatliche Antikensammlungen - Starke Frauen or should it be renamed before I start to upload more photos?

One question more, do you know the room number in the basement where the diaret glas is? I took some photos of the terracottas with a tripod and would like to categorize them correctly.

In room number 10, I took a photo of a painting of a mummy (there is only one) and I deleted the photo of the descriptuiion. :-(( Do you have some information baout this painting?

Kind regards

MatthiasKabel (talk) 15:19, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello Matthias (I'm not Bibi, but maybe it helps if I answer). Al also was there - it's a good exhebition. I also wrote to the museum and told it them. Now I'm a little in Contact. First - please not a Category for the Exhebition. Two Causes: first is, a lot of the artefacts are from the "normal" Exhebition. It would be a needles dubble categorisation. Second is, there are also artefacts from other museums like Basel. They don't depend to a Munich-located Category. I also had take a lot of pictures. Some I had uploaded already, please take a look. If you're Images are better, load them over mine. If not, you must not upload them (or you made picture from an other view).
The Room with the glas and the terrcottas must be Number VIII.
The Mummy-portrait is wax-tempera-made on wood. A young man in roman clothing. Hair and beard are made in the modern way this time. He depends to the greco-roman upper-class. Early 3d Century, 37,5 cm high, Inv.-Nr. 15013. Marcus Cyron (talk) 23:39, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the fast answer, I'm a little confused about the names Bibi or Marcus Cyron, but ok. If you like we can discuss on my page in german. Ok, what category do you suggest for all these picture, some are from Staatliche Antikensamlungen but not in the regular exibition, some are from other museums. The museums project mentions these subcategories for temporary exhibitions?
I will start with the additional pictures from the regular exihibiton. As I worked wit a tripod the quality of the images is not bad. (macro lens with a stop between 22 and 32, so a pretty good depth of field, compare the new pictures of the diatret glas Category:Roman_antiquities_in_the_Staatliche_Antikensammlungen with the old one.) MatthiasKabel (talk) 16:00, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Maybe this should be discussed at the discussion page of the Project Museum. Marcus Cyron (talk) 16:05, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

? Je ne sais pas...
Sinon tu fais des photos à Leipzig ? Jastrow (Λέγετε) 19:33, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re : File:Maps template-fr.svg

Salut Bibi !

Sting (talk) 20:25, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Unbelievable... Is there any anouncement? And why does this feature limit to admins? Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 18:21, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
I had read it at de:WP. Why only for Admins? - I don't know. Maybe only in the beginning. So you have now a good cause to become an admin... ;). Marcus Cyron (talk) 13:02, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi Bibi Saint-Pol, the announcement was here. --AFBorchert (talk) 13:14, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the link.

As it currently seems to be quite a bit experimental, I'll just wait and see. Asking for adminship to get a feature just for personal purpose is not actually a good motivation :) Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 16:12, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Arcésilas, hélas !

[edit] Featured image nomination

See here. One of your images has been nominated as a featured image.

I think "dati di acquisizione" is OK. As per what Jastrow says above, here "dati" can only be trasnlated as "data", never as "date". In Italian there is a clear difference betweeen is "il dato / i dati" (datum/data) and "la data / le date" (date/dates). --User:G.dallorto (talk) 20:19, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Missing line

"Credit line" could therefore be translated as "Provenienza" ("where the item comes from"). Best wishes. --User:G.dallorto (talk) 11:03, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Benghazi

I noticed you did a good job with this ancient map by Herodotus Image:Herodotus world map-en.svg. Could you please also convert my Benghazi map into svg? Image:Benghazi Mu'tamarat Sha'bia.jpg.

That would be very kind and helpful. Merci. Jaw101ie (talk) 10:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] File:Corona de Castilla 1400.svg

Hi Bibi, I see you have requested this image to be deleted with the bad name tag. Could you please point out to me the policy that states that the name is incorrect? This was the original image and since the title is in Spanish it doesn't seem necessary to inlcude -es in it. Thank you. --Té y kriptonita (talk) 21:44, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry to disagree, but if it's not an official policy I would be grateful if you abstain from requesting files I have uploaded to be deleted. The reason for this is that I like to keep a record of all the files I have uploaded and when this file is deleted, the new one will not appear in my gallery and therfore I will lose track of it. I notice you have also deleted the description in English that I originally made in the file, which doesn't really help English speakers (which are the most). Regards, --Té y kriptonita (talk) 13:34, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
It's not a matter of who owns the file, but I'd prefer if the file doesn't dissapear from my gallery if it's not strictly necessary. Also, as I said before, I do not see the need to ad -es to the title when the title is in Spanish. If the title was Kingdoms of the Crown of Castile I'd understand that adding -es would be useful, as -es would indicate the language in which the text in the image is written. If a person doesn't know in which language is the title written, it probably won't help him/her to know which version he is looking at. For example, for a person who doesn't speak Spanish the file Reinos de la Corona de Castilla-de will indicate that the text is in german, however, that person won't know still if the title is in Spanish, Catalan or other similar language. I think the problem with the new versions is that the title should have been changed to English instead of keeping the original Spanish one. --Té y kriptonita (talk) 15:01, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I get you point, but the fact that you (or any other non-Spanish speaker) doesn't know the language of the title doesn't mean that you are unable to use the file. The description, the categories and the text in the image would help to undersatand what the image is about and in what language is written. It is irrelevant if you cannot distinguish Spanish from Portuguese. I am unable myself to distinguish Bulgarian from Serbian, but, for example, in the absence of a map of Bulgaria in Spanish I can use a map written in cyrilic to illustrate an es.wiki article, because anyway there isn't any other available.
Furthermore, if you need this map to illustrate the fr.wiki article for Crown of Castile, you can easily check how it is spelled in es, pt, ca, etc by cliking in the interwiki links for those languages. Since it is not essential,I prefer not to have to upload a new image again. --Té y kriptonita (talk) 17:44, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Bien noté, j'y vais ce WE.

{{LouvreLocation|dept=AGER|wing=Denon|floor=0|room=10|case=10}}

I understand what you said. I had tried to create a category. On the first one, I forgot to attach it to the category above it. I went back and practiced again. I thought, though, that I was a little new to be adding categories. Maybe pages first? Zmorgan (talk) 22:03, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Bibi,

Please let me know where this discussion moves to. I have no intention of trying to create more cats myself, but I will be glad to take part in any discussion. I create the categories for a database of over 100,0000 art images for my university, so I spot things like statues versus sculpture and placing the search name first automatically. I have about a thousand art pictures that I would like to upload, but I don't want to start in and then have to move them all.

Thank, Zmorgan (talk) 18:37, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] bad name tagging of my uploads

Why are you tagging my uploads with bad name. They are translations of the original image usually created by User:LadyofHats. They are properly credited using derivativeFX and the translated file name is also useful for none English search request. I also keep track of the images using the gallery tool. If you delete them and reupload them under your name, I can't find them again. So please stop doing so and get the images undeleted. Matt (talk) 20:58, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

You can also solve this easier by using redirects as I tested it in File:Independent assortment & segregation-de.svg. Please help me get my images undeleted and use this less webspace-wasting and less annoying method for filename harmonisation. Matt (talk) 21:35, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Template conversion

Hi Bibi Saint-Pol, I reverted you at Commons:Template i18n/Infobox templates because I think {{Philately}} should be converted too. Probably a quite tedious job, that's why this one is still open I guess. Multichill (talk) 20:11, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Polish translation

First, I edited Information Louvre - http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template%3AInformation_Louvre&diff=25132987&oldid=24282227

According to translation of the frame, my proposal is as follows:

artist/maker artysta/twórca
description opis
dimensions wymiary
credit line sposób pozyskania
accession number numer dostępowy numer inwentarzowy
location miejsce
source/photographer źródło/fotograf
references referencje
other versions inne wersje

I am not sure, what does it really mean "accession number"? If it means something like the number in the museum directory (inventory or catalogue number), the better Polish translation would be numer inwentarzowy or numer katalogowy.

Regards

Julo (talk) 20:29, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

  • PS
    I found in German version the name "Inventarnummer", i.e. in Polish has to be numer inwentarzowy

[edit] Irish translations needed

Hi! I contact you as you speak English and Irish.

Jastrow and I are working on autotranslating {{Meta information museum}}, the meta-template we use for many museums, like {{Information Louvre}}. Could you please help us find Irish translations for every tag name:

   * artist/maker
   * description
   * dimensions
   * credit line
   * accession number
   * location
   * source/photographer
   * references
   * other versions

"Credit line" is mainly about the mode of acquisition: what collection does it come from? Did it join the collections by gift, purchase, on loan, etc.?

Thanks for any help. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 16:22, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

  • OK, here you go:
    Artist/maker: cumadóir
    Description: cur síos
    Dimensions: toisí
    Credit line: There is no direct translation for this. I would use "Fuarthas ó/Cnuasach". "Fuarthas ó" means "received from" and "Cnuasach" means "collection".
    Accession number: uimhir shealbú
    Location: suíomh
    Source/photographer: foinse/grianghrafadóir
    References: tagairtí
    Other versions: leaganacha eile
  • Hope that helps! Stifle (talk) 21:07, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Greece maps

Hi, I saw your request at User talk:Sting about large base maps of Greece. Want to check out these two to see if that's about what you had in mind? File:Greece large topographic blank map.svg and File:Greece large topographic basemap.svg. They both need a bit more elaboration (rivers are still missing, for one thing), but you can see the idea, I guess. Fut.Perf. 09:15, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, yes, I saw you were talking about historical maps, but I'm sure those could be patched on the basis of these too. Somebody will just need to modify the coastlines in a few corners, where there are low coastal plains, and take out the modern artificial lakes. Fut.Perf. 11:19, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Indonesian translations needed

Hi Bibi, thanks for your message. Below are some translation from English to Indonesian. However, I still have not yet found "Credit line" & "Accession number". Free translation will not work well. I will get back to you asap.

  * description ; (keterangan)
  * dimensions ; (ukuran)
  * credit line ;
  * accession number ;

Soit "Sumbangan dari" (donation from) ; "Tipe akuisisi" (acquisition type). Voila .. j'espere que tout va bien. Merci Tjmoel (talk) 00:30, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Bibi Saint-Pol! I've translated the infobox per your request. Thai translations can be found at {{Meta information museum/th}}.

Too late ? Jastrow (Λέγετε) 19:33, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Louvre

Thank you very much for your pictures, once again! ^) Next time in Louvre can you make a photo of this one Clémence Isaure, please? --Shakko (talk) 20:20, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Jastrow (Λέγετε) 15:00, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
gran merci for you both for your responsiveness. --Shakko (talk) 20:10, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] File:Atmosphere layers-fr.svg

Cordialement. --Jean-Louis Lascoux (talk) 22:14, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
