Apologies for some mistaggings

I went through a lot of images and I accidentally marked some public domain sculptures with {{FoP-Australia}} - sorry about that, please feel free to remove them from any of these. Dcoetzee (talk) 05:21, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

  • No thats fine. Must be a hard task to tag all the images here so I can understand. I just thought it would be handy to have a detailed edit summary as to why I removed the FoP tag. Also gave me the chance to add more detail to the descriptions and also mark some images that you missed. Bidgee (talk) 15:26, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

This image

Is there a good reason to keep this photo: File:Seagul Brighton-side.jpg? If its not used on wikipedia and the copyright is unclear, surely it can be deleted without difficulty especially when there are thousands of other photos of sea gulls here. What do you think? --Leoboudv (talk) 04:54, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I agree and it has been deleted. There already is similar images on Commons and surely there will be more uploaded into the future as well. Bidgee (talk) 05:05, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks. I thought it was a non-controversial request...but no one acted on it for days. If it had been used, I would not have filed a speedy here and assumed good faith. With kind Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:15, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
  • PS: If you like native/European art, I have placed some high resolution photos taken by me on my user page here Regards from Canada, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:22, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Photoshop

The other week I discovered a new Photoshop tool: Image ---> Adjustments ---> Shadows/Highlights. You may (like me) find this tool useful for fixing up images with shadows and uneven lighting. Cheers. OSX (talkcontributions) 13:24, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

hehe I found that years ago! :P Seriously though the tool is only good in Photoshop CS 3 and 4 but I'm stuck with CS2 on my laptop (My main PC has CS3 but that system is in need of a major upgrade so I hardly use it) so the tool is really crappy. :( Bidgee (talk) 13:44, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Headings

Thanks for fixing my headings. I must be a bit confused.

BTW good work with geocoding your images. Docu (talk) 09:38, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem. I stuffed up some of my own headings as well (Not hard to do).
Thanks. It's been something that I've meant to do for some time be but behind at least 1000 photo, so I have a huge back-log on top of photos yet to be uploaded or taken. Bidgee (talk) 09:43, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Image deletion

Thanks for getting File:Puye Ruins.jpg — I was so disappointed when I found that it was a copyvio, since it's such a great picture. You may have seen that I tried to contact the creator, but the email failed to go through, so we're definitely not going to see this picture reuploaded. Nyttend (talk) 12:52, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

I understand well: I wasn't asking you to undo it :-) Nyttend (talk) 22:15, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Andy Hug.png

Bidgee, first of all, how it can be copyrighted if I made it myself? And secondly, how possible that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Aerts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernesto_Hoost http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remy_Bonjasky http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semmy_Schilt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruslan_Karaev have even COPYRIGHTED PICTURES??? Georgy SummumBonum (talk) 03:21, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

(Comment moved from User talk:Georgy SummumBonum)You don't own the copyright to the photo even if you cropped it. The owner of the copyright is the site itself, where as the other links you pointed to me all but one are the uploaders own photos (IE: They took to photo of the person in real life and not taken it from the internet) and the other is from Flickr as it was uploaded with a free-use license. Please read Commons:Licensing which will give you the greater understanding of our polices for licensing and copyrights. Bidgee (talk) 03:32, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Allright, they are almost all from http://www.postproduktie.nl/bekend.htm But, if I "cropped" it as you said, and indicated the primary source, is it OK? Or I should contact Ilona Hug to do it herself? P.S. Next time, when I firstly comment on your talk page, please do not move into mine, agreed? Thank you. Georgy SummumBonum (talk) 04:01, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
One thing you could try and do is contact the site and get them to send an COM:OTRS permission. Cropping a copyrighted image doesn't mean it can be used here, If it's licensed under Creative Commons Attribution (Credit the author), Creative Commons Attribution Sharealike(Thats when you have to credit the author and upload under the same license) or Public Domain (Just because a file is online doesn't mean that the file is in the public domain). Also you should have told me to comment on my talk page rather then comment on your talk page. Bidgee (talk) 08:38, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

This category needs merging with Category:Coober Pedy if possible. Thanks, Mattinbgn/talk 10:52, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Which way would be better? I have tended to create categories with the same name as enwiki articles for convenience sake, but then again, I think the idea that enwiki has of disambiguating towns such as Tocumwal is a bit silly. I don't really mind which way the merge happens. Is there a page or a tag I should be using? -- Mattinbgn/talk
Thanks heaps! -- Mattinbgn/talk 12:06, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Rename

Hi, Bidgee. Just asking for a quick favour: can you please rename:

Cheers. OSX (talkcontributions) 12:02, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

✓ Done manually. Bidgee (talk) 12:16, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Is there a bot that does this? OSX (talkcontributions) 13:03, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
Don't admins have access to the move tool? OSX (talkcontributions) 13:06, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
I don't think we do. There is a bot the does rename but I know that it sometimes can take a week or sometimes more to get it renamed. Tag is {{rename|some new name.jpg}}} but I've not used it for sometime but I believe you have to be a trusted user to use the tag however. Bidgee (talk) 13:12, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Question

Do you know how to remove or crop out the sunshine glare at the top of this new image:

I don't have Photoshop or CS software sadly. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 05:27, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Cropped and done some level fixes. File:Dumferline Abbey graveyard (April 2009) - cropped.jpg. Bidgee (talk) 06:51, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Deletion

Sorry to ask, but I accidentally uploaded a Subaru Forrester over this image (File:2003-2004 Toyota Corolla (ZZE122R) Ascent sedan 02.jpg), could you please delete it (but keep the two Corollas)? OSX (talkcontributions) 02:41, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. OSX (talkcontributions) 11:14, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Courthouse

Please consider marking this image if it has not yet been marked and you have some free time:

Its an important building. Its just a pity it is slightly crooked and I don't know how to correct it. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 08:21, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

I've made it as straight as I can possibly make it, removed the dull tint to the image (but has meant the sky is over exposed now) and removed that ugly street light on the right. Must say this building I know of as Mythbusters did some filming of the jail cells (I've never been to the USA but if I did, it (the building) would be one of the places to visit and photograph). Bidgee (talk) 09:12, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks for marking it and trying to straighten it. The image looks fine to me...and thanks for removing that portruding streetlight. I gues you have the software for this. I should say I had a prior image of this important building deleted after I contacted the flickrowner and he requested its deletion. It had failed flickrreview. Cheers, --Leoboudv (talk) 19:02, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Sand dune

Dear Bidgee,

Do you think there is enough background for you to remove the image of the truck driving at the right hand side of the road here:

I don't have photoshop. The uploader placed 2 images: this original uncropped version here and a smaller cropped version which takes out the truck (and sadly more of the sand dune) in Nevada. What do you think? Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 21:10, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I've quickly worked on the photograph (See File:Sand mountain (Edited).jpg). Bidgee (talk) 06:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Thanks for your kind help. I thought there might be enough background to remove the truck. Anyway, I'll put your image in the wikipedia article now. Its much better. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:14, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

File:Guzelyurt Municipality.jpg

Hi,

I had requested that above file be deleted as copyright infringement and you did delete it. It has now been re-uploaded again by a sockpuppet of the other user who has been vanadalizing Wikipedia with a host of usernames over the past year. You could try and explain Commons policy on non-free images to this user, but I sincerely doubt he would listen as his main intent seems to be to vandalize and he ha not listen to reasonable arguments on Wikipedia in the past either. Passportguy (talk) 12:05, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I've deleted both editors images as they are clear copyright vios. If the Sockpuppet uploads again I'll indef block them. Bidgee (talk) 12:41, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Sure enough these images are back, this time the sockpuppet is called User:SemiColonInSentence Passportguy (talk) 23:42, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Help

Dear Bidgee,

If you have some time, please mark these 4 exquisite images:

Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:48, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

1 image

Dear Admin Bidgee,

I just persuaded a flickr owner by flickrmail to license this image as cc by sa:

The image had languished in the possibly unfree category for years. Its from New Zealand and is Wikipedia's only image for this plant. Please mark it if you can. Thank You, --Leoboudv (talk) 06:39, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
