[edit] Unblock me

I'm only making legal threats cos I don't want my images on here. If they go, then I will consider some of my images being on here. I fully understand the GFDL, as I run my own wiki, however I DO NOT want my images to be uploaded here without me doing it.

Bluegoblin7 17:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Whatever your motivations, you were making baseless legal threats. You said "DELETE THIS IMAGE IMMEDIATELY. I DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR IT TO BE ON WIKIMEDIA COMMONS". If you understood the GFDL, you'd know that we don't need your permission for it to be here. The GFDL that you chose to license your image under (and that you "fully understand") is an irrevocable grant to all to reuse an image. It happens to be useful, so we're using it here. And no, you're going to stay blocked until you start acting like an adult. Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 17:36, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Ok then. You want adult comments? Check the email I just sent you. That has reasons for why it shouldn't be here. Bluegoblin7 17:38, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I'd prefer for any discussion of this matter to be made in a public forum like this. Your worry about the Anglia logo is a non-existent one. That's not really eligible for copyright, being plain text in a generic font. Why are you happy to have them on the English Wikipedia and not on Commons? Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 17:41, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Because that is where I work most. I don't want my pictures to be used on all projects. And besides. It's a crap picture. I am actually surprised anyone actually bothered to upload it.
Note, I have also asked for removal of them all from Wikipedia.
Also, look at http://www.transportcentre.co.uk/railway-centre/multiple-units/2nd-generation/liveries/turbostars/anglia-railways/livery. The image was uploaded there before Wikipedia, and it is copyrighted. Bluegoblin7 17:47, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
That's not where you got it from. The Last-Modified header on that site post-dates the upload to Wikipedia by several weeks.
Let's be honest here, Goblin: is your desire to see this deleted related to this comment? Because if it is, this is stupid. The (imo, wrong) opinion of one person shouldn't bother you so much, certainly not enough that you get yourself in trouble over it. Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 17:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
It began at www.multipleunits.co.uk, but that site was merged into Transport Centre a few months ago as it was felt it was a better site. I can give you the last modified date off my PC if you want, and even send you the file.
Also, my other images are copyright off http://jacks-tram-pics.fotopic.net. And i'm not responding to that comment. It is crap. You are much better off asking Unisouth to do one. See his uploads. They are amazing. Bluegoblin7 18:05, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. But I still wish for it to be removed. I am prepared to discuss. Bluegoblin7 18:07, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Just because it's not optimal doesn't mean it's not useful to someone. We don't require that everything is awesome, just that it be useful to someone, somewhere.
As you've noticed, I've unblocked you, since you're being reasonable now. Still, why am I sceptical that your uploads are really copyright violations? Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 18:12, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I swear that they are not. That website, and it's sister sites http://railway.transportcentre.co.uk are mine, as is http://jacks-tram-pics.fotopic.co.uk. I swear. My real name is Jack Gordon, and if you look at the histories on TC you will see the user bluegoblin making pretty much every edit on there. I swear. The only thing that could be considered a copy-vio on my part is this, as I used Bombardier's diagram from their site, and the Anglia logo, and my upload of Croydon Tramlink displays, where I used TfL logos without permission for Wikipedia... but I do have permission on Transport Centre, where the image was meant for and indeed has watermarked copyright.
Thank you,
Bluegoblin7 19:25, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Indentation reset. Okay, I thought you were saying that the ones you took from jacks-tram-pics were copyright violations as well, and I was sceptical of that idea. This is quickly getting really confusing. So uh, is this all over now? Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 19:34, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
No i took the pics my self. Bluegoblin7 13:03, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay. So it's just this one diagram of the DMU that's a derivative work of copyrighted material? Hi again, BTW. Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 11:54, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes. It uses the line drawing off the Bombardier website, and the Anglia Logo. Also my Tramlink Destination list - the content etc is original and cannot be copyrighted, but the logos at the top are (c) TfL, with no FUR for WP in the form they are on. The copyright notice on it is my website. Bluegoblin7 12:35, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough. I've deleted the DMU drawing (not because of the Anglia logo, mind, which I still hold is ineligible for copyright). As for the map, which logos does it use (also, if it's on here, can you give me a link to it?)? If it's a basic LT-type roundel, then those are certainly ineligible for copyright (we have a load of those here). Trademarked, yes, but that's not our concern. Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 19:19, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks.
Just to correct you - it's not a map, it's a list of Destinations that were originally displayed in the destination box of the trams. I don't think it's on here, but at Wikipedia it is wikipedia:Image:Mk2 Croydon Tramlink Destination Blinds.jpg. The logos are that of the Trams Roundel (which is marked as a logo) and the Tramlink logo, also marked as a logo on Wikipedia, with FURs in place for the articles they are/were on.
Okay, those are definitely not eligible. The Tramlink logo is, again, plain text in a generic font, and the roundel is just two geometric shapes (again, way below the threshold of originality). But that's for en.wiki to figure out, I guess. Is everything settled now? Lewis Collard! (hai thar, wut u doin) 19:40, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello Bluegoblin7!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.

To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.

[[Category:Category Name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:

[[Category:Astronomy diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.

For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.

The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.

Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:

  • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
  • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
  • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
  • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
  • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.
