Buna ziua Bogdan, era foarte fine, daca pui pozele tale intr'o resolutie mai mare... Salutari soare 19 Aprilie 13:26

[edit] Image:Sonchus arvensis susai bgiu.jpg
Hello Bogdan! This photo shows Sonchus oleraceus. Sonchus arvensis should have glandular hairs on involucral bracts and upper part oft stem - see this one. Moreover, also colour of leaves is more glaucous in Sonchus oleraceus - as is your image.
I also found another photo Image:Sonchus arvensis bgiu.jpg which probably is some Hieracium species. This one will be difficult to determine to species. Generally it is easier to determine plants, if some information is given where the photo was taken - as you did in the latter photo. Such an information, however, is missing in some others of your photos. Are all of your photos from Romania? Best wishes --Franz Xaver 06:33, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Yes. Most of them are either in Bucharest or in the hills south of the Carpathians (in Dâmboviţa county). I'll try put information about them from now on. Bogdan 08:52, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Big yellow flower bgiu.jpg
Hi again! This plant is Tragopogon, probably Tragopogon pratensis. However, there are two species in Romania which I do not know well. The first one is Tragopogon brevirostris, which extends from Ukraine and southern Russia into eastern Romania, and probably is rare there. The second one is Tragopogon floccosus which according to "Flora Europaea" grows on river-sands in the Danube floodplain. Probably the photo was taken in a different region of Romania? Regards --Franz Xaver 07:44, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- It was taken in Bucharest, which is about 60 km north of the Danube. Bogdan 08:49, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- OK, so neither Tragopogon floccosus nor T. brevirostris is very likely. And the plant actually looks like T. pratensis - so it is T. pratensis. Cheers --Franz Xaver 11:00, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Some plants
Hello Bogdan! You need not worry about Image:Vicia cracca bgiu.jpg - this really is Vicia cracca. Moreover, Image:Unknown plant 01 bgiu.jpg is Aristolochia clematitis. Did you take Image:Chrysanthemum yellow flower.jpg in spring? If yes, I think it is Senecio vernalis.
- Yes, I took it in April. Bogdan 4 July 2005 16:13 (UTC)
I will check this. To some others of your "plante neidentificate" I have some ideas. I already have put these into the right family categories. You can read my comments if you look at file history. Cheers --Franz Xaver 4 July 2005 14:16 (UTC)
- Now I saw your photos Image:Sambucus nigra flori bgiu.jpg and Image:Sambucus nigra flori 02 bgiu.jpg. These actually are Sambucus ebulus, not Sambucus nigra. Antheres of Sambucus nigra are yellow, not purple. Also shape of leaves is different and S. nigra always has a woody stem. Your first photo shows colour of antheres very well. In your second photo this colour is quite pale, rather pink than purple. However, this plant also clearly is Sambucus ebulus, because of leaf shape and plant habitus. Until now, photos of Sambucus ebulus were missing. So, we also have got this species. Regards --Franz Xaver 4 July 2005 14:38 (UTC)
-
- Great. Thanks. Bogdan 4 July 2005 16:13 (UTC)
- Hi Bogdan, I started from Bulgarian article on Sambucus ebulus having picture named Sambucus nigra. Luckily being persistent I've reached this explanation here but the name is still confusing. Could you either put these comments on the image pages, or even better re-upload the images under correct name. Cheers, Zlatko + (talk) 22:11, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Is it possible for you to check the plant on Image:Arctium lappa bgiu.jpg? To tell from the photo alone, also other species of Arctium are possible, i.e. Arctium nemorosum and A. minus. However, it is not difficult to distinguish A. lappa in the field: In A. lappa the petiole ("leaf stalk") is solid, whereas A. minus and A. nemorosum have a hollow petiole - see [2] and [3]. A photo of this detail would be nice. Cheers --Franz Xaver 4 July 2005 14:50 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks. Bogdan 4 July 2005 16:13 (UTC)
-
-
- I checked and the petiole was solid. I have a photo with the petiole but it's not helpful as the details can't be distinguised.
- However, I took another pic of the same plant which now has flowers: Image:Arctium lappa 02 bgiu.jpg, which look quite different from Nemorosum Bogdan
- I did not see this message before. Yes, I agree now, this plant really is Arctium lappa. Thanks for checking the characters. Regards. --Franz Xaver 17:55, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

- Actually, A. lappa is the only member of the Arctium family that grows in Romania. Bogdan 4 July 2005 16:13 (UTC)
- Sorry, that I have to oppose to this statement: According to "Flora Europaea", in Romania five species of Arctium can be found, i.e. Arctium lappa, A. minus, A. nemorosum, A. pubens, and A. tomentosum. If you check [4], searching for the genus name Arctium, you will receive a list of taxon names mentioned in "Flora Europaea" - accepted names as well as synonyms. For accepted names also a list of countries of occurrence is provided, where "Rm" means Romania.
It is very likely that your plant is A. lappa. Nevertheless, we should try to be on the safe side. Only A. lappa and A. tomentosum have solid petioles. Because of the size of the leaves I do not think that A. tomentosum is possible. However, A. nemorosum could be possible. So the petioles would bring about an unambiguous identification. Best wishes --Franz Xaver 4 July 2005 17:13 (UTC)

Hello Bogdan! It is possible that Image:Unknown yellow flower 02 bgiu.jpg shows Tragopogon hayekii. This is another species of Tragopogon I do not know very well. In "Flora Europaea" it is described to occur in Central Romania and Macedonia (and where else?) and to be distinguished from Tragopogon pratensis subsp. pratensis (your other Image:Big yellow flower bgiu.jpg) by having more strongly branched stems and golden yellow ligulate flowers. So this might be the correct ID of your plant. Alternatively also Tragopogon pratensis subsp. orientalis could be possible. A definite decision would be possible if I could see ripe fruits. I removed this image from Tragopogon pratensis and added it to Tragopogon as a plant of uncertain identity. Regards --Franz Xaver 9 July 2005 17:09 (UTC)
- Hello Franz! I could go and take a picture of the plant when the fruits are ripen, but do you have any idea in how many weeks after the blossoming should that be ? Bogdan 9 July 2005 19:09 (UTC)
- Hi Bogdan! This would be great, to have a photo of fruits. It is possible that both flower heads on your photo, which were closed when you took the photo, in one or two weeks are ripe. Usually you have the first ripe fruits when still some heads are flowering on the same plant. In order to determine the species a closeup from the side of the fruits is necessary, to see the length relation of the body of the achene versus the beak, i.e. the thinner upper part of the achene. Probably you searched the internet for photos of Tragopogon hayekii: Your photo would not be the first one, but by far the best on internet, probably for quite a long time. --Franz Xaver 00:23, 10 July 2005 (UTC)

- Hello! I am sorry to say that Image:Campanula latifolia bgiu.jpg is not Campanula latifolia. Actually it is Campanula rapunculoides. You would find Campanula latifolia in mountain forests and meadows in the Carpathians. The color of flowers in C. latifolia usually is darker and the flowers are 40-55 mm long. I suppose the flowers of your plants were only 20-30 mm long, which are the dimensions for C. rapunculoides. And in C. rapunculoides the calyx teeth are recurved as in your plant, whereas in C. latifolia they are erect or patent. Regards --Franz Xaver 17:50, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Categories “Men of <country>” and “Women of <country>”
Hello,
I didn't notice these categories before. My policy is to categorize a person's picture according to his or her name. So, as Commons is a bank of media files for Wikipedia article writers, I think that categories Men of <country> and Women of <country> are not useful for this aim (an article writer don't need Commons categorization to know if his article subject is a man or a woman). --Juiced lemon 19:05, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Photos from the Italian Ministerio Della Diffesa
Hi, your Italian is better than my, could you then proof if this images are allowed by the Italian ministry of defense to use them in other projects like Wikimedia Commons ?
Here is the source of the photos.
If yes, I would upload them into commons.

[edit] Image Cannon_pic.jpg
I am terribly sorry to bother you, but I was just wondering if this image of a cannon that you took, if it was a replica of a cannon or if it once was a working cannon. And I know the picture is two years old, so you probably wouldn't know, but do you know what kind of cannon it is, as in when it was made and where? Thank you kindly JayKeaton 05:30, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ion_Antonescu_tinererete.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

[edit] Help needed
Dear Bogdan. I need your help with a very serious and annoying issue. I became a member of Wikimedia commons in order to contribute to Wikipedia as a whole. I've uploaded some very interesting and useful information connected with anthropology and history research. But the user User:ForeignerFromTheEast from Bulgaria is constantly vandalizing my contributions by deleting the license tags. By doing this he is disturbing my contribution process. Other users have warned him for vandalism on his talk page, but he keeps on deleting the licenses and the comments on his talk page. Please check his contributions and you will see that the only thing he does is deleting my contributions. Please act by the protocol and give him a warning. This kind of behavior is not allowed on Wikimedia. With respect. Revizionist 21:21, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi Bogdan, I see a lot of pictures being tagged by OsamaK with no source since. With most of the pictures nothing is wrong, but the uploader isnt even notified of this tagging so he or she will probably not even notice it! You already reverted a lot of edits but this looks like destroying a lot of perfectly fine pictures. How many pictures have already been deleted because of this tagging? You can of course see this at Special:DeletedContributions/OsamaK. Could you have another look at it? This looks like a way to circumvent the deletion debate and destroy content. Thank you, Multichill 16:00, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- I just checked a random file that was deleted and it had info like this:
| Description |
Retrato del Gobernador Gabriel Cano y Aponte |
|---|---|
| Date |
Painting of the XVIII century |
| Source |
Museo Historico Nacional |
| Author |
anonimo |
| Permission (Reusing this image) |
Public domain |
It was definitely a misuse of the no source tag. Bogdan 20:52, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Petru Groza

Thanks for uploading Image:Simeon_de_Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. [edit] Administrative notice
Dear Bogdan. I am writing to you to inform you that because of inactivity, you may lose your adminship on Commons.
Commons has a new policy on admin activity, Commons:Administrators/De-adminship, taken into use on June 13, 2007 (after a two-week poll on the proposed policy's talk page).
If you want to keep your adminship, you have to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section within 30 days. Note that if you don't make 5 admin actions in the following 5 months, you will then lose the adminship anyways.
Thank you,

[edit] Gules_a_bend_or.svg
Ciao e grazie. Massimop 21:52, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.
Thank you.
This message was added automatically by Filbot, if you need some help about it, ask its master (Filnik) or go to the Commons:Help desk. --Filnik 00:30, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello Bogdan!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.
To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.
-
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:
-
-
This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.
For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.
The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.
Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.

I confirm that these two files are correctly renamed. As you can see I had in the past put them already in Category:Ornithogalum pyramidale & Category:Crocus vernus, respectively, but since I am not an administator I could not rename them.
