Image:Salzwasser Walvisbay crop.jpg[edit]

Hi Calderwood,

you uploaded the image Image:Salzwasser Walvisbay crop.jpg as an edit of Image:Salzwasser Wavisbay.JPG. Please give it an sufficient license tag. Thanks, norro 10:42, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

I now copied the original licence tag and deleted the warning. But what should be done in case of a self-tag ("I, the creator ...")? I am not the creator of a picture I edited. What do the rules say? Calderwood 09:49, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

New nomination at Image:Rolling-thunder-cloud-a.jpg for COM:FPC LoopZilla 23:09, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

I am unhappy with your assertions. LoopZilla 00:12, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
You should say what makes you unhappy and why. Otherwise I cannot comment on it. Calderwood 07:14, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Scytodes thoracica[edit]

You wrote its not sharp. This spider is only about 5 mm large and the image has a width of more than 2000 pixels. I think this is quite a high resolution for such a small animal .. Regarding the composition: its the composition where you can see the whole animal. I'm a little bit disappointed about your comment, because its just not fair. -- aka 11:19, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

For the accomplishable sharpness the resolution you selected is a bit too high. If you made the image a bit smaller it would become sharper without losing information. As for the composition, an isolated animal in the center of the picture might be sufficient for zoological purposes, but the criteria for featured picture status should - at least in my opinion - be somewhat different. By the way - I'd prefer to discuss the pictures on the FPC-page so that everyone can participate. Calderwood 11:39, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
I made the image for zoological purposes - to show the animal in the Scytodes thoracica article. We should not forget what the images are for. This is not a photo community. I used this page because I wanted to discuss your comment and not the nominated image. I therefore removed your hint there. -- aka 11:54, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
