Hi, you have to attribute the original author if you modified a GFDL'ed work. Furthermore the template for GFDL is GFDL not GNU-FDL --Baikonur 22:18, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Pompeii the last day 1.jpg
Hi,
This image is cool, but I think you need a real statement in writing from the copyright owners that they are releasing it under the GFDL. The current conversation thread you posted is very ambiguous, and clearly shows that the person who wrote it thinks that he has given permission for it to be used on Wikipedia, which is of course forbidden. I realize that you note that you had a phone call with him that he knows it can be copied, but I think you need it in writing. 208.57.241.20 22:52, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] About map
Hi, i'm id-wiki user. I know very little about ArcView. How to make a good and artistic map, is there any template for making map in wiki? Which software should I use? (I'm Windows XP user). FYI, these map I've made are very bad, huh? Look at this: locator and county-division. Please reply to my id-wiki discussion page. 203.130.254.69 04:34, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Pompeii the last day 1.jpg
| Image deletion warning | Pompeii the last day 1.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. Thanks for uploading Image:Hammerspaceweb.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Danny, congratulations! You now have the the rights of administrator on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and Commons:Deletion requests), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. Regarding:[1]
Please return the image immediately! It has been used for some time in the en.wikipedia semen article, and was an excellent example of the topic. It had been hotly debated in that article, and a consensus was reached some time back on its validity and value to the article. How is it that you think you can summarily delete the image without any due process or discussion through the established process? Had you followed the process appropriately, you would have found out that the image was being used actively, and had strong consensus for use within the proper context. [edit] Illuminated letters
Hi Danny. I think it would be helpful for others if you provided the URL that you obtained the original images from for the illuminated letters you've been uploading. Then others, if they're curious, can see the letters in context, and can look for other useful stuff themselves. Thanks :) ~MDD4696 02:13, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I have been pulling them from magazine articles in the Making of America project, which collects old magazines, at Cornell University and the University of Michigan. I upload them as I find them in articles I am working on for wikisource. The complete list of magazines is here. Mine were taken from Century Magazine. You can see an example of how I used them here. [edit] Please clarify your admin position
Hi Danny. There is confusion as to whether you are still an admin; and if you want to be one. You still have your admin capabilities, yet in a recent request for adminship you stated you wanted to wait to apply for adminship for a while. I asked on meta for a removal of your admin status (because you have stated you wanted it removed) but was told you should make such a request yourself. [3] Could you please clarify if you want your admin status removed, or if you want to keep it? There will be no controversy if you want to keep it, I am just asking where you stand... Thank you.

[edit] Administrative notice
Hi. This message is sent out to you because you are an administrator on Commons, and you made little use (or no use) of the admin tools lately: less than 5 times in the last five months.
Commons has a new policy on admin activity, Commons:Administrators/De-adminship, taken into use on June 13, 2007 (after a poll among users). According to that policy, admins who use their tools infrequently will be asked whether they still need their adminship, and if they do not respond or require them the removal of the tools will be requested.
If you feel you still need your admin tools, please sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section within 30 days from the date this message was sent out. However, if you then don't make 5 admin actions in the following 5 months, you will lose the adminship without any notice.
This is not a comment on the considerable help you have given to the project in the past but reflects the wish of the community to see active administrators and to ensure that possible security breaches are minimized.

Hello Danny!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.
To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.
-
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:
-
-
This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.
For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.
The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.
Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.
