File:Mauricio López Bonilla.jpg This image is public domain...

You need to provide a link to webpage stating that the image is in the public domain. You've got a week to add the info, so no hurry. Happy editing! (And just a note: please sign talk page posts with ~~~~.) David1217 (talk) 01:30, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Congratulations! You are now an Image Reviewer[edit]

If you use the helper-the scripts, you will find the links next to the search box (vector) or as single tabs (monobook). They are named license+ and license-

Hi David1217, thanks for your application to be an image reviewer. The application has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can review all kind of image licenses on Commons. Please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:

importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.

You can also add {{user reviewer}} or {{user trusted}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons! Sven Manguard Wha? 04:59, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

P.S. I'm one of the more lenient granters, your Commons activity really wasn't enough going purely by the numbers, but the quality was there, and I did take your en.WP file work into account (the same courtesy was extended to me when I was applying for rights). As long as your work is good, no one will care though. Commons is like that, IMO.
Thank you Sven! David1217 (talk) 05:24, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Wapuu(わぷー.png) Add of Missing permission templete[edit]

I confirmed that a missing permission templete was attached to the following image by you:

http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB:%E3%82%8F%E3%81%B7%E3%83%BC.png

The license is stated clearly in a URL:

http://ja.wordpress.org/2011/08/10/wordpress-japanese-character-name/

but will there be the short information? Because an author and the Japanese person concerned of WordPress are troubled by this templete, please teach a solution. --志賀 慶一 (talk) 09:33, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese. If you contact one of the users in this category, they can verify that permission is given. Then, the deletion template can be removed. Happy editing! David1217 (talk) 20:00, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
I added the template to my user page. --志賀 慶一 (talk) 06:50, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Where? I don't see evidence of permission on your user page. You should probably contact a user who speaks Japanese (see the above category) for help on this. David1217 (talk) 15:52, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
Are you right by suggesting "Have a Japanese user or a manager take off a template on confirmation"? --志賀 慶一 (talk) 16:25, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello David1217. Thanks for the review, and apologize if any problem. As explained here : [1], I think this file is acceptable. Thanks in advance to explain the problem you have seen. --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 12:37, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Ok, it should be deleted, I understood reading your explanation. How did you find the original ? Thanks for your review. --Rédacteur Tibet (talk) 16:45, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you—I was out of town. What happened to you has happened to other people too—it's called license laundering. I found the original using a reverse Google Images search. You can turn it on as a gadget in preferences. David1217 (talk) 23:51, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Free sowtware screenshots[edit]

(I am sorry, I do not know much English)

I added some of the files you want to delete.

Do you understand me? --Fsf02 (talk) 22:31, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

I solved the problem by adding the necessary license (probably). :) --Fsf02 (talk) 00:12, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Looks great. Thanks for doing the work, and happy editing! David1217 (talk) 23:43, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

I am now proud owner of a TUSC account!

Deletion?[edit]

Why did you add the deletion tag for [2]? If you open the link, click on "Show more" in the description section below the video, it clearly says "License: Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" --Futuretrillionaire (talk) 01:42, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

My very sincere apologies. I am unfamiliar with YouTube and Creative Commons, and I didn't see the permission statement. It's a bit buried. Again, my apologies. David1217 (talk) 01:44, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
It's fine. I thought all Youtube videos were copyrighted at one point too ;) --Futuretrillionaire (talk) 01:51, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on . Click here to learn more and vote »
