Cheaney.jpg[edit]

You tagged Cheaney.jpg as a copyright infringement. This image is of a public display case and was taken by me on my personal iPhone. I'm baffled as to why you thought it was a copyright infringement, but it is not.--YHoshua (talk) 18:54, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

umm you took a photo of a photo it is copyright infringement you didn't take the original photo Dman41689 (talk) 19:08, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

File:Esther Phillips 1976.jpg[edit]

Hi Dman41689. Thank you for uploading a free image of Esther Phillips. I saw that the version you have uploaded is different than the ebay source that you linked to in your summary. It does appear to be the same photograph, but I am concerned that the uploaded version is markedly distorted. I'm not very fond of the heavily watermarked version, but I feel that it is better than misrepresenting Phillips appearance by making her facial features look all warped. Gobōnobo + c 16:41, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

it doesn't misrepresent her at all its the same image just without the watermarks and boarder. we are not aloud to use images with watermarks on it the photo is fine stop changing it. How the image looks is not up to you. if you would like to fix the image you can by but do not revert it again.Dman41689 (talk) 19:31, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
I don't think there's a rule against having watermarks, though they are discouraged. While I don't like watermarks on images and would prefer to have a version of the photo without them, the image you uploaded is visibly warped and I think it misrepresents what Esther Phillips looked like, both for that photo and in reality. Comparing the photos side by side in the edit history of the image, I think it is clear that the unwatermarked image is very distorted. I'm going to go ahead and list this image for discussion at deletion requests. Gobōnobo + c 07:01, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

File tagging File:John S. Dunne, C.S.C..JPG[edit]

Thanks for your message about the licensing. My friend, to whom the photo belongs, added this text to the caption of the photo: This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license.

The original photos is found here: https://plus.google.com/photos/102641339394413518995/albums/5945463751807149281/5945463864531448434?authkey=COqvy6nBv-fDUg&pid=5945463864531448434&oid=102641339394413518995

Does that satisfy the requirements for the licensing? Is there something else that needs to be done to remove the threat of deleting the photo?

Thanks!

A barnstar for you![edit]

Thank you so much for your many quality public domain photographs of sportspeople. Thanks for both building a rich collection of them here on Commons and integrating them well into Wikipedia articles. Please accept this barnstar as a small token of my appreciation. Thanks again for all your hard work! Michael Barera (talk) 22:23, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
Also, thanks especially for all the photos of Canadian hockey players. I just want to let you know that they should be categorized both by position and by province. I check the ice hockey players from Canada category every week to categorize any new images, but I'd appreciate it if you could categorize these images into their appropriate position and province categories when you upload them. If not, it's certainly no big deal. Thanks again for all the wonderful photos, and take care! Michael Barera (talk) 22:27, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

MattGagnon uploads[edit]

Hello,

LeJC were surprised to see File:MegynKelly.jpg deleted and kindky asked me to check this file. He were worried he weren't able to find the photo elsewhere, excepted with credit to Commons, so were rather sure it were first published here.

After review, I see you tagged nsd three photos of MattGagnon.

For each of them the source were, sometimes perfectly, sometimes with enough information to infer {{own}}, documented:

Furthermore, two medias share the same camera, a Nikon D7000.

I would like to know the exact rationale leading you to consider these photos lack a proper source and license.

Green Giant: poke, you could be interested by this section, as you trust this user for the NSD tagging. --Dereckson (talk) 16:46, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm not sure why they thought they couldn't find other copies but I deleted the image because a Google search suggests the Megyn Kelly photo might have existed for sometime before it was uploaded here in August 2012. The same situation exists for the Richard Cebra photo which appears to have been around since at least December 2012 before being uploaded here in February 2014. The Pete Snyder photo appears to have been online since sometime in 2011 but was uploaded here in February 2013. It is entirely possible that the uploader is the author but the dates cast sufficient doubt that needs to be cleared up. @MattGagnon: perhaps you could help? Green Giant (talk) 17:47, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Do you consider English Wikipedia upload dates or Wikimedia Commons upload dates? --Dereckson (talk) 20:11, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Hi Green Giant, I have just checked the first 5 pages of the Google link you gave us, and, if you take a closer look (by clicking on each link), you will notice that all the entries that seem to be older are from Wiki pages or blog pages: they actually were posted after (and in lower quality), but Google messed up the dates. For instance, this link (2nd page on Google results) is showing a post from December 17, 2013, while Google is saying March 6, 2012. I did not check all the other pages of results, but I am quite sure it is the same problem. It appears that the file was first uploaded on Commons. I did not check the other three files that were deleted, but they might also be genuine. --LeJC (talk) 21:03, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

Sita Murt.jpg[edit]

Regarding the file "Sita Murt.jpg", why are you asking license permission? It is suposed to be the uploader's own work, isn't it? --Jordiferrer (talk) 23:46, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
