Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Red backed shrike[edit]

Hello! The picture was made near Csíkszereda (Miercurea-Ciuc), in Transsilvany, Romania.

Yes, is problem with the date on the camera, it was made in march, and I think the rad-backed shrike made, because here, near Csíkszereda so much rad-backed shrike is living, but is possible if you are right. Szabi237

Bluethroat aus Ungarn[edit]

Achso, nein das ist kein Problem. Uns würde nur dann eine Genehmigung vom Fotogafen fehlen, wenn es nicht das Foto wäre, was auf der Homepage auch ist. Danke für deinen Kommentar! Alles klar dann. Die Nachschärfung ist bei dem Foto übrigens sehr sinnvoll, wie ich finde (vielleicht zwar etwas zu stark, aber generell sinnvoll). Viele Grüße --Saibo (Δ∇) 22:25, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Wie auch dort geschrieben, habe ich ohnehin von dem freundlichen Herrn die Genehmigung eingeholt seine Bilder zu verwenden. Ich hatte einen kurzen eMail-Wechsel und er ich habe ihm zwei seiner Bilder leicht retuschiert zurückgeschickt, worüber er sich gefreut hat. Wenn du eine Genehmigung per E-Mail bekommen hast, dann sollte sie im OTRS-System archiviert werden und die Bilder durch unsere OTRS-Freiwilligen mit {{OTRS}} markiert werden. Andernfalls würden die Bilder möglicherweise in der Zukunft gelöscht werden, wenn jemand die Gültigkeit/Existenz der Freigabe durch den Fotografen anzweifelt. Category:Heerte (Salzgitter)[edit]

wo genau war das?

Hallo, du weißt bestimmt noch, wo du die Fotos von den schönen rosa Blümchen (Polygala sp.) gemacht hast, die in der Heerter Kategorie sind. Aufgrund deiner Beschreibung "Heerter See" vermute ich, dass sie im Naturschutzgebiet entstanden sind und du die Bilder in Category:Naturschutzgebiet Klärteich III bei Salzgitter-Heerte umsortieren könntest. Weil die zum NSG gehörende Uferzone aber nicht sämtliche umliegenden Flächen umfasst, wärs gut wenn du das vorher auf einer Karte zB [1] nachgucken und, falls es zutrifft, vielleicht auch in der Beschreibung anmerken könntest. Unidentified Carabidae[edit]

Hello, insect in your pictures: File:Carabus CBMen 001.JPG, File:Carabus CBMen 002.JPG and File:Carabus CBMen 003.JPG, isn't a Carabus or even Carabidae species. It's a Blaptini tribe's species (family: Tenebrionidae), probably Blaps sp., but I don't know fauna of Menorca properly ;) 31.182.65.97 15:57, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ich habe gerade mal beim NLWKN nachgeschaut und festgestellt, dass der Bereich dort gar nicht zum NSG Hagenburger Moor gehört, sondern gerade so noch zu den Meerbruchswiesen. Irgendwo muss da aber ein Schild gestanden haben, sonst hätte ich das wohl nicht in die Legende aufgenommen. Ich habe vermutlich auch Landschaftaufnahmen, aber die sind dann auch wohl aus den Meerbruchswiesen.

Ja, das wäre vielleicht ganz gut. Ich habe eben ma in meinen Fotoordner geschaut und auch eines von der Tafel gefunden, die mich fehlgeleitet hat. Es war am Rand des Hagenburger Moors und nicht drin. Möglicherweise ist das auch gar nicht zugänglich. Ich habe eine ganze Reihe von Fotos gemacht, aber eben alle in den Meerbruchswiesen. Vielleicht lade ich die bei Gelegenheit auch mal hoch. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

Request for correction[edit]

Dear Donkey shot, would you be so kind as to correct the name of the subspecies Luscinia svecica przevalskii in this file? It is currently spelled as "prevalskii", the "z" that should be in third position is omitted. For justification, see e.g. AviBase and IOC World Bird List 10.1. In both resources you can also find the name for the Iberian subspecies: azuricollis.
