Nice work![edit]
Your restoration of File:Arthur M Boutillier.png caught my eye. : }
Good work. I'm curious as to what software and tools you used? (I generally use GIMP).

- Thanks! I used Adobe Photoshop because that is what I am most familiar with.
- To start, I used the clone stamp tool along the edges of his face, then used the magic wand selection to remove the background entirely. More clone tool to remove all of the horizontal scratches/marks and to extend his suit.
- The rest was more illustration than photo manipulation since the original didn't give me much to work with. Working completely in grayscale I used the dodge and burn tools to draw highlights and shadows to give more detail to his face, glasses and clothes.
- Final touches included playing with levels/exposure a little and adding a tiny amount of gaussian noise to cover up some of my tracks ;).
- Thanks for sharing your techniques. They appear to have been effective. : }
- I might be inclined to tweak your version a bit by adding some sort of light gray gradient background (with a bit of noise) to soften the contrast between fthe surrounding field and the figure. And to add an illusion of depth. Here's an example of some background work I did previously: File:John Sentamu.jpg. --Kevjonesin (talk) 15:26, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
- That sounds good. I can add a gradient myself, I still have the pre-flattened file that has the figure as a separate layer so it might be a little easier.--Drm0hr (talk) 15:32, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
- Right on. Sounds good. Have fun. --Kevjonesin (talk) 17:16, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Drm0hr, I saw that you uploaded a version with transparent background. Assumed this was the aforementioned working layer and went ahead and created a background. Was a fun exercise. If you're also working on a background, I won't be offended if you decide to overwrite the one I did. --Kevjonesin (talk) 14:04, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- p.s. — Here's how it looks in the wiki article: Arthur Moren_Boutillier --Kevjonesin (talk)
