Blackwater River State Park, in the Florida Panhandle. I took this photo, as well as about 20,000 or so more.

I'm currently taking pix of various Florida State Parks and sites on the National Register of Historic Places in Florida. (I'm so into it, I have to tell you twice)

Seeking Ebyabe - Want to Use Your Photos in Book[edit]

Ebyabe: I am a big fan of your photos and would like to make contact so I can use some of them in an eBook on the history of the Black Seminoles.

Let me introduce myself. I am J.B. Bird, author of the website at, which is the starting point for my book on the Black Seminoles. The book includes about 100 images and will be have a really cool interactive, multi-touch eBook edition for the Apple store.

I don't want to put my e-mail address up here, but if you google me, you'll get my contact info from press releases at the University of Texas, where I work.

I know you offered your images up in the Creative Commons, but I would still like to obtain your permission (and if heaven forbid I earn any money on the book, which is unlikely, I'd like to offer something for them). I'd also like to see if there are other content projects you'd want to collaborate on. It is very uncanny, but you have taken excellent photographs of a number of places covered in my website and book, most notably the plantation ruins of East Florida, which are not well documented. Your photos have allowed me to see many of them for the first time. One of my next projets may be right up your alley in terms of photo subject material.

Hope we can connect, and thanks for taking so many great photos and placing them on Wiki Commons and Wikipedia.

Ebyabe found[edit]

That's great - glad you saw my message. I am on vacation the next 10 days so I miss a message that's why. Hope we can connect via email. J.B.

Suspicious coordinates for Hull-Hawkins House[edit]

Where exactly along Suwannee County Road 49 is the Hull-Hawkins House? I looked at all the cooridnates given in all the online maps, and I see no sign of it whatsoever from where they claim it is. This info will be crucial for a future article on Florida State Road 49. ----DanTD (talk) 22:16, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Google maps is very uncooperative sometimes, and this is one of those cases. This is how to get there from US 90. Hope this helps. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 17:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes, that worked perfectly. I might be done with the article before August is over after all, although it'll still be a stub. I also noticed the identical wrought-iron gateway across the street into a dirt path. ----DanTD (talk) 18:47, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Lake Monroe vs. Benedict Bridges[edit]

I realized that the Lake Monroe Bridge hasn't been used for US 17-92 since 1994, and that it was replaced by the Benedict Bridge. I'm surprised you never got pictures of that one in all your time in Sanford. What can you tell me about it? Becuase somehow I get the feeling "Benedict" isn't the whole name of the bridge. ----DanTD (talk) 00:45, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Ormond Mound[edit]

Ormond Beach is on the Halifax River, not the St. Johns River. Gamweb (talk) 05:56, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Gaah, what was I thinking? I've driven over the Astor Bridge enough to know better. Thanks for the headsup! :) --Ebyabe (talk) 16:56, 24 August 2012 (UTC)

Windsor Florida[edit]

Hi, I see that you've photographed the Neilson House in Windsor. Perchance have you done the William Byles House [3] and [4]? Best wishes. Clariosophic (talk) 15:11, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately not. I only did the Neilson House b/c it was on the NRHP. Maybe if I get up there for this year's zucchini festival, I can stroll around and get shots of some of those other places. --18:51, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

Current and former state capitol buildings[edit]

I love your photo File:Tallahassee FL old and new capitol01.jpg and how you had to stand on the median of Apalachee Parkway to take it. Was it dangerous to run to the median? Great shot - 2 thumbs up. --Mjrmtg (talk) 16:05, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! I've gotten good at playing traffic tag. Sometimes I have to wait a bit for it to slow down. It's all about timing, doncha know. I've taken a few median shots like that here and there. The Tallahassee one was a bit of a challenge. These two, not so much. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 17:54, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

Perkins Opera House[edit]

It looks like you overwrote your own photo here File:Monticello opera house05.jpg, it was originally the historic marker. --Mjrmtg (talk) 01:21, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Live Oak City Hall[edit]

With this photo of yours File:Live Oak City Hall03.jpg, do you think the original Live Oak City Hall also used to be a fire station? --Mjrmtg (talk) 13:06, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

You know, you may be correct. Back in the day there was often combining of civic functions. w:Collinsville City Hall and Fire Station and w:Pontiac City Hall and Fire Station for example. That's probably what happened here. --Ebyabe (talk) 15:45, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
Yep, it was. [5] --Ebyabe (talk) 15:47, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
