Welcome, but ...[edit]

Welcome to Commons. I see that two of your images have already been deleted as copyright violations. Please don't upload images that you find on the web, as they are almost always copyright-protected. Before uploading any more, please read COM:CB and COM:PS for details of what is and is not allowed here. Your block on the English Wikipedia will not in itself prevent you helping out here, but please be aware that any continuation of what you were doing there will find you blocked here pretty quickly as well. If you need any help, please ask on my talk page, Regards, --MichaelMaggs (talk) 11:18, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, Fangusu!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Copyright definition[edit]

Copyright means "I am the creator of this work, so I own the intellectual property rights to it. If you want to reproduce it in any other way, first seek permission from me. And when reproducing my work, be honest and admit that it is not yours. Do NOT claim it as your own, that is stealing intelletual property from me, the creator, and this is against the law. I will file a lawsuit if you steal the work from me."

I completely understand what copyright is. So can you please unblock me on the English Wiki? Fangusu (talk) 03:56, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons is for free photos created and uploaded by the users themselves. Therefore, Wikimedia Commons does not except copyrighted files. When the copyright date for a work expires, it is said to have gone into the public domain. Copyright date usually expires about 70 years after the author of that work has died. It is against the U.S. law itself to reproduce non-free content without permission from the original owner. That is why Wikipedia has to be strict about copyrights. Wikipedia is not a battleground. Therefore, expressing feelings directed against certain users, and edit warring over pages are not allowed on Wikipedia. So, if a certain edit needs to be made, it is best to seek permission on the article's talk page first, and then discussing it before coming to a conclusion. In articles relating to science, species are crucial. "Human" is a specific term, while "people" is a term that can apply to anything. That is why "human" is the better term to use in articles relating to science. We are all humans. Therefore, human body parts are more familiar looking to the readers. That is why human body parts should dominate generic anatomy articles. Wikipedia treats all articles in an encyclopedic, business-like manner. Articles relating to fiction are no exception. On Wikipedia, fiction is treated in an encyclopedic manner. Therefore, all articles covering works or elements of fiction should be written from the real world's point of view. This means that for fictional elements, there should be enough real-world information to support notability, and they should be described in an encyclopedic tone.

I have reviewed every single policy carefully on both Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. So now, I want another chance, OK? Fangusu (talk) 12:13, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Question?[edit]

So far, which of you users think that I have been helpful on Wikimedia Commons? Do any of you think I have improved my behaviour a little bit? Fangusu (talk) 02:25, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

And for another thing, I don't want to vandalize Wikipedia, I want to HELP on Wikipedia. Can some of you PLEASE go there and restore ALL of my deleted articles? Fangusu (talk) 13:56, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

CS Lewis Signature[edit]

Any chance you could point me to the "duplicate", the link you provided was dead? SVGs are completely different from GIFs, they can be scaled to any resolution without losing resolution. Connormah (talk | contribs) 20:49, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

I had accidently nominated it for deletion without thinking twice. Please forgive me. Fangusu (talk) 02:01, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

No problem, mistakes happen, we're human. What puzzles me is the admin who deleted didn't even check. Connormah (talk | contribs) 14:32, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
