Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote.

If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. Thank you for your understanding.  Sdrtirs (talk) 01:22, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Green in Arab national symbols

I would tend to doubt whether all national symbols of all Arab countries always have exactly the same very dark green... AnonMoos (talk) 21:51, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lebanon

In particular, what solid evidence do you have that the Lebanese national symbols were intended to be colored with monolithic rigid lockstep uniformity following one particular interpretation of the pan-Arab colors? It seems rather unlikely... AnonMoos (talk) 23:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

It's nice to have sources, but unfortunately your actions have suggested that you're imposing what you consider to be an appropriate uniform "pan-Arab red" and "pan-Arab green" on Arab national symbols, regardless of local diversities which have existed. Certainly the image on this page has a shade of green quite a bit lighter than the green you used in your image of the flag of Lebanon... AnonMoos (talk) 09:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] COA

Hello, sorry, could you explain what was going wrong with that COA? why needed to duplicate? Thank you, rgds,--SanchoPanzaXXI (talk) 07:39, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

As far as I see, none of those examples refer to a Kingdom. This category is important in heraldry as you maybe know...--SanchoPanzaXXI (talk) 19:15, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Standardization mania

Re: Your file-upload comments on Image:Flag of Libya.svg -- I really wish that you wouldn't standardize just for the sake of standardizing. The evidence collected at en:Talk:Flag_of_Libya strongly suggests that most commonly the Libyan flag is not proportioned as 2:3. Meanwhile, you should consider the possibility that the various flags and emblems of the various Arab countries were adopted according to what was locally preferred in the particular circumstances of a particular place and time (different for every country) -- and not according to some master-plan of rigid lockstep design uniformity...

In any case, the national flags of Libya have historically been tied to those of Egypt and Syria -- not to Maghreb flags. AnonMoos (talk) 00:24, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Arabic SVG

Not completely sure what you mean, since MSIE doesn't directly display SVG, as far as I'm aware, but instead calls upon other programs (such as Adobe SVG plugin) to do so. Also, the only thing that's really important for SVG files uploaded to Commons is whether or not they display in the particular version of rsvg used here, not how they display in other programs. However, fonts do seem to often have problems, espcecially Arabic fonts: Image:Slogan-ar-wiki.svg. I can't really say much more until I see the actual file in question... Hello Flad!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.

To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.

[[Category:Category Name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:

[[Category:Astronomy diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.

For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.

The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.

Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.
