Image:Esplanade-de-la-defense, rotated.jpg[edit]

Hello

This pic you modified is without license, could you arrange that. Friendly Oxam Hartog 22:57, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

The original, Image:Esplanade-de-la-defense.jpg, has also been rotated. Can I delete my upload? / Fred Chess 23:07, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I don't know. In fact your pic was only used to give an exemple when the original was debated in Featured picture candidate. Now debat is close, I presume you can delete it if you want. But the angle of rotation is not really the same, perharps someone prefer your pic. Oxam Hartog 23:25, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Okay, I've added license information and other information for now. / Fred Chess 23:50, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Ldlc affiche metro jnl.jpg[edit]

Hi. I deleted Image:Ldlc affiche metro jnl.jpg. We think that the poster is a copyrighted work so photos of it isn't free. / Fred Chess 10:15, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

It wasn't a poster's reproduction but the picture of a poster in situation, in a public place. In many coutries, it is legal to show such stuff. I perfectly understand why copyrights must be checked with caution. But I care a lot about this, I mean I'm quite serious (and, for the record, I am an admin on fr.wikipedia, one of the toughest wikis about copyrights I think). But it's a pity I didn't have time to talk about it (I don't come on commons everyday) because I don't think it was a quick deletion case. Editcount says I uploaded more than 600 images ([1]). I appreciate that you wrote to me about the deletion, but I think it's not enough : talking and thinking first is nice too. Now my time not to think : I'm quite fed up with commons and I don't think I'll upload anything there anymore. Jean-no 17:48, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Of course, I can't be expected to know the copyrights of every country of the world... The image was tagged as a copyvio by user:Svencb already on November 12. Too bad he didn't notify you. I then notified you on November 16. The image was deleted on the 20th.
Anyways, there is an commons:Undeletion requests for such cases. / Fred Chess 18:01, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
All that is a little absurd. People who upload on commons comme from all the wikis and don't check every week what's up on their discussion page, do they ? For the rest, do you mean one's just have to "tag" as copyvio any image he wants to be sure it will be deleted without discussion after a week ? I have too much respect for this project to try that, but such an idea frightens me ! Therefore, I'm out now, I never really have problems here but I find commons too agressive, and seeing everyone self-calling themselves law doctors... well... I see that enough on fr.w. So I think I'm out. That's not a big deal. Jean-no 01:16, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Ok, good bye. / Fred Chess 09:26, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Fred Chess 15:12, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
/Lokal_Profil 17:00, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Nu har jag korrigerat sv:Mall:Emblem....

Thanks for uploading Image:Varberg_City_Arms.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. You uploaded this image which you claim to be your own work. On the upload page you agreed to place it under a Free license but did not specify which one. Please do so by replacing the {{OwnWork}} tag with a suitable copyright tag. --Lokal_Profil 19:13, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

--Pastranec 16:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I do not speak English. It is a old photo. Grau die in 1944. I believe is PD as Image:AlexanderAlekhine.jpg, Image:Alexander Aljechin 1920s.png, Image:Aljechin-Capablanca.jpg. He is the same time. --Pastranec 17:41, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Holdem.jpg[edit]

Fred - You recently deleted Image:Holdem.jpg for being copyrighted. I do wish you would have contacted me and given me a few days to respond before deleting it. The author on flickr originally posted his pictures under CC-by-sa, but then later changed their status on flickr. As I'm sure you are aware, like the GFDL, CC-by-sa cannot be rescinded (because people like us need to know we can use it). Another image from this set is currently featured on wikipedia. In the featured picture discussion another person confirmed my claim that it was origially licensed under CC-by-sa. I also think that someone in that discussion specifically received permission. Could you please restore the image? thank you. --Kzollman 10:14, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

I think that we on Commons have discussed the problem with Flickr users who change their license from a free to an unfree. I wouldn't mind restoring the image, but there must be proof that the image was originally licensed under a free license. Unfortunately no flickr review was made. I looked at Image:Riffle shuffle.jpg but its license was and is still cc-by, so it can not be used as precedent.
Also, it seems you gave me the wrong link to the featured picture discussion.
I think that the best way is for you to list this image at Commons:Undeletion requests, to get attention from other people. I am hesitant about restoring the image with the current facts.
Fred Chess 10:52, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Fred My apologies about the incorrect link, to many balls in the air at once. Here is the correct link to the discussion, where you will find indepedent evidence for my claim of license. As you requested, I have started an undeletion request. --Kzollman 16:43, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

arwiki[edit]

I am working on that in arwiki. I will try to make things easier for both arwiki and commons. I am in the middle of some heavy modifications back on ar. Our uploaders think that the wiki is simply a hosting site for images. So get ready, the camels are comming --Tarawneh 18:03, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

re: Commons:Deletion requests/Template:Anonymous work[edit]

Whoops, thanks for pointing that out... Yep I did mean that.--Nilfanion 05:06, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
