[edit] Galleries redirecting to categories

I think it is really not something we should do. I see it as something really nasty. For me, we should create redirects to categories only when it is needed (after some kind of category moves, for instance). Furthermore, I think redirects should not be cross-namespace (in that case it breaks the notion of inclusion in a category and create cyclic links). I have deleted those pages a first time since it was really obvious to me, but I didn't imagine they would be intentionally re-created. If you think such access points are needed, I suggest you create an actual gallery in the category (with the name chosen for the category) and make your other page titles point to this actual gallery (not to the category). Is it ok with you? If we cannot agree on that we should bring this discussion to the village pump or to a deletion request. --Eusebius (talk) 05:31, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry to disagree. Galleries are much more stable in naming and work better as redirects. Such galleries are ideal as a multi-language external interface and to decouple the internal categorisation system/structures from the various category systems in the other wikipedia's. --Foroa (talk) 06:02, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Hai ragione. Mi sono fatto prendere dall'entusiasmo di condividere in Wikipedia queste opere d'arte poco note senza tenere presente il vincolo dei 70 anni dalla morte degli autori. Se vuoi provare tu a chiedere l'autorizzazione su Pagine Bianche trovi l'indirizzo di Bergamo del pittore Trento Longaretti che dovrebbe avere 93 anni. Io non me la sento di disturbare un così anziano artista e poi non sono pratico di come deve essere l'autorizzazione a pubblicare le opere di un artista. Perchè dovrebbe autorizzare me, emerito sconosciuto, a pubblicare le sue opere senza avere io altro titolo che non sia la volontà di farle conoscere ai wikipediani? Io ci rinuncio, i wikipediani amanti dell'arte dovranno avere pazienza come l'ho io a sopportare certi Admin. Per gli artisti morti da meno di 70 anni il problema è rintracciare gli eredi. Fatica improba. Così per via di questo copyright l'arte contemporanea e del recente passato resta tagliata fuori da Wikipedia. Un bel danno davvero per la cultura in generale. Hi Giovanni. Would you mind if I rename this category into Category:Female head from the Tower of the Winds? There is more than one Aphrodite head of the Cnidian type in Athens. Scusa se ti disturbo. Ho acquistato da poco questo testo:

  • Domenico Massagli, Introduzione alla storia della zecca e delle monete lucchesi, Lucca, 1870.

Ovviamente in una ristampa anastatica del 1976, l'originale sarebbe troppo costoso.

L'opera è già su google libri ([1]) la la loro scansione è abbastanza scadente. Volevo mettere o su commons o su it:wiki alcune immagini (disegni) di monete.

  1. su it: o direttamente su commons
  2. che licenza devo usare?
  3. ho acquisito una tavola (12 disegni) a 1200 dpi che fa ca. 70 Mb in formato .jpg. Devo ridurre la definizione?
  4. posso ovviamente estrarre anche i singoli disegni (che sono quelli che mi interessano di più): li carico anche loro? Oppure solo loro lasciando perdere la tavola intera?
  5. che categorie, oltre alle più ovvie (monete italiane, storia di Lucca)
  6. non sa non risponde

Chissà se sarebbe permesso scannerizzarle e metterle su Commons? Quello che potrei fare (se ti interessa) è fare un elenco dei numeri e relativi soggetti. Il volume è :

Volevo segnalarti che al bar italiano ho cominciato una discussione su "Cities in Italy", perchè mentre io mi affaticavo a rintracciare e riordinare sistematicamente tutti i comuni d'Italia dispersi fra Cities in Italy, Cities in NomeRegione, Province of..., NomeProvincia (Prov), Municipalities of Italy, Municipalities in Nome Regione, Villages, ecc. ecc., ed ancora ora sotto category, ora sotto gallery, ora sotto entrambi, qualcun altro si affrettava a disperderli di nuovo, interpretando in modo restrittivo la categoria Cities in Italy. Ti sarei molto grato se tu volessi intervenire nella discussione dando il tuo parere, di modo che troviamo tutti quanti insieme una soluzione condivisa. Hi G.dallarto, the term "arcade" should only be used when there are actual arcs to connect the columns or pillars. When there is a straight entablature above the columns, the whole structure can be described as portico or colonnade, but not as an arcade in the terms of architecture.
