Thank you for translating[edit]

Thanks for doing that, it's to my own shame that I don't speak Spanish (I can get by OK with automatic translation, but I don't use it in situations where it's important that I'm understood :) –moogsi (talk) 19:48, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

  • Yes, thank you -- it is often helpful. You may find the {{translation}} template useful when you do this, as it sets off clearly exactly what is happening. As an example:
Sí, gracias - a menudo es útil

Re: Varios[edit]

Hola.

Saludos, Alan (talk) 23:23, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Saludos --fedaro (talk) 10:40, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Copy editing[edit]

Hi Ganímedes

Do you mind if I copy edit your Newsworthy challenge entry for better English? I would change it as follows if you agree:

"Every year on February 2nd thousands of person [people] go to beaches and rivers to ask [for] favours or [give] thanks to Iemanjá, godness [goddess] of the sea. Elements like [such as] ships, ballons [balloons], flowers and fruits are very common to see."

Picture of the Year 2013 R2 Announcement[edit]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open![edit]

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on . Click here to learn more and vote »

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

The 2013 Picture of the Year. View all results »

Dear Ganímedes,

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

  • In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
  • In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

  1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
  2. In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
  3. In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

Commons:Photo challenge-translations[edit]

Hello Ganímedes,
I saw that you did most of the translations for the Commons:Photo challenge page to Spanish and wanted to ask if you are still interested in translating texts for this project. If you are, there are several things that could be translated: a) the page itself was just actualised, b) we started to translate the challenge descriptions themselves (so far only with langswitch), and c) I just posted translations to French and English for the watchlist notice (MediaWiki talk:WatchlistNotice - the last entry), where other languages could be added.
Best wishes, --Anna reg (talk) 12:15, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello Ganímedes,
Just wanted to notify you that the challenges for August are ready for translation - if you find the time, here are the links: Hair & Holidays.
The general rules which remain the same from month to month are now transferred into two templates - Template:Photo challenge rules and Template:Photo challenge rules restricted (the only difference between the two templates is that the sentence but may have been taken earlier is missing in the restricted one). The templates can also be translated.
Best wishes, --Anna reg (talk) 13:48, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Commons:Photo challenge-translations (January)[edit]

Hello Ganímedes,
the January themes seem to be decided... we only have one new theme - Outlier, as Bad weather & Household items in use will be continued during January.
And perhaps you can check the watchlist message for January that will be prepared in Helen's sandbox.
Best wishes and a happy new year, --Anna reg (talk) 19:49, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover![edit]

Commons File mover.svg

Hi Ganímedes, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please do not tag redirects as {{speedy}}. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

File:Problems in esWP Dic2014.png[edit]

Commons-emblem-issue.svg File:Problems in esWP Dic2014.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Re: Ayudita[edit]

  • Category:Kirche St.Martini (Kelbra) "St.

Photo challenge - February translations[edit]

Hello Ganímedes,
I just prepared the two February theme pages

and - as February has already begun and the pages are therefore already linked from the Photo challenge-main page, I put <!-- --> around every untranslated language - so if you find the time to do the translation, please don't forget to remove it!
The watchlist messages are once again in preparation in Helen's sandbox, but so far I have mainly actualized the links...
Best wishes, Anna reg (talk) 12:03, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Ganímedes,
could you check the following message The Photographer translated - as I had to correct the links, I fear there are more mistakes... ;->

Gracias --Jcfidy (talk) 17:44, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Photo challenge translations - March[edit]

Hello Ganímedes,
the photo challenge translations for March are ready! Here are the links:

Best wishes, Anna reg (talk) 12:35, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Ganímedes,
I copied your translation for the watchlist message into the challenge text - could you have a look if there should be any other changes?
Best wishes, Anna reg (talk) 13:08, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Oh, I just understood your edit problem mentioned on the commons talk page - for future referende: to edit those sections, you have to go to the subpages of the English translation (Commons:Photo challenge/Submitting, Commons:Photo challenge/Voting and Commons:Photo challenge/Previous) - you can see there names by editing the main page: they are included as e.g. {{{Commons:Photo challenge/Submitting}}.
Hope that helps, Anna reg (talk) 13:21, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
