Cameras for Commons photographers[edit]

I would be glad to help. -- King of ♠ 09:08, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, I see you have posted on Meta. --Pine 06:56, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

is it "noise" or stars?[edit]

Hi Pine,

Did you look at the image I posted? Here it is | again. The FOV in that image is smaller than the moon.

Are you sure that you are criticizing ISO 1600 noise in the image? I am pretty sure that what appears to be noise in the sky is actually massive numbers of stars of different brightness. Just want to make sure. Best wishes Ckyba (talk) 22:50, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I responded on the nomination page. --Pine 06:48, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:A memorial bench in the Soest Garden at CUH.jpg, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.

If you created the content yourself, enter {{own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

  • FDMS4 as I noted in the source information on the file's page, the author was uwbotanicgardens on Flickr. --Pine 20:26, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
flickr is never a valid source parameter. I tried to find it on Flickr via searchbyimage but all results were from Google+.    FDMS  4    20:32, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
  • FDMS4 look in the contributions of uwbotanicgardens. --Pine 20:34, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
404. Please just add the URL – you have to.    FDMS  4    21:02, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
  • FDMS4 there is nothing in the upload wizard requiring a source URL. Also, uwbotanicgardens on flickr is the first Google search result if you search for "uwbotanicgardens on flickr". --Pine 21:11, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
Right, you can upload files without a source URL, but they will likely get deleted. Your choice.    FDMS  4    21:16, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
  • FDMS4 that seems contrary to AGF and SOFIXIT. --Pine 21:23, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
Where exactly is your good faith if you have information essential for being able to keep a work and don't want to share it? I tried to fix it, but failed. You know exactly how to fix it, but don't want to for any reason.    FDMS  4    21:25, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
  • FDMS4 I guess I don't see how that information is essential for keeping the work on Commons in a matter consistent with AGF, but perhaps Commons has a tendency to delete instead of fix. Anyway, I can fix it if necessary. Is there a tool that will allow me to attach URLs to multiple photos simultaneously? --Pine 21:30, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. You have to add a different URL for each file, but you could use automated tools for uploading the next time.    FDMS  4    21:35, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Yours sincerely McZusatz (talk) 09:56, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the contribution of those images. Nonetheless, the source you gave does not suffice to verify the license by our bot. Can you please add the complete URL to the images somewhere on the file page? --McZusatz (talk) 10:09, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
If you can't be bothered to provide us with the URL to your Flickr uploads we cannot find them easily to check their copyright status, so they may be deleted even if the licence is good. I found a few and fixed them but there are so many, so please fix them yourself. Remember we are all volunteers here so trying to find sources for images is a painful task when we could be doing more constructive things with our time. Thanks. Ww2censor (talk) 16:18, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I added some online sources for some of these images but I have little time and this uploader has too many images for one person to give online sources for them all. I assume the rest of the unsourced images here will be deleted within 1 week. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 21:50, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
  • I plan to address this issue this week, although given AGF I think there's little need to put a one week deadline on this. --Pine 07:30, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
  • McZusatz, Ww2censor, and Leoboudv, I believe that all images are now linked. Thank you McZusatz and Leoboudv for your work. --Pine 07:31, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
