Hi. These files don't seem to be in order but have been included in Wikipedia pages since June. Isn't that problematic? No changes were made to them since June either - it doesn't look like there is a more than month-long discussion happening that attempts to resolve their copyright, or is it? Hi Hekerui, we have a 30 day period for OTRS cases as it is not uncommon for these cases to take that long. One problem is the OTRS backlog, the other the time consuming exchange of emails with third parties who are not familiar with free licenses etc. For these processes it is helpful to see the actual uploads for some considerable time such that the copyright holders can see what a permission refers to. And these files are already tagged; the tags are {{OTRS pending}} (initially used by the uploader) and {{OTRS received}} (confirmation by an OTRS member that we have an open ticket for it). Whenever concerns arise, they should be addressed at COM:ON. But there is no need to double tag these files. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 08:57, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Duration of copyright

Of course. Look at here (page 22, article 96). This is the Copyright and Related Rights Law adopted in 1998, and it was repealed in December 2004. So, in Serbia, the works of authors who died before 1954 (2004-50=1954) are in public domain. Bollywood Hungama

I just retagged a few BH uploads with {{Cc-by-3.0-BollywoodHungama}}, replacing the generic tag, so they are now in the unreviewed cat. Also, we now have a significant amount of uploads from Filmitadka.com who have a similar CC-BY release for images their photographers take at parties, but that is being misinterpreted to include other images at parties, should we start a similar process for that source too? cheers. A question about copyright

Please see this file. Text in this file was written in Ninth century by some unknown person. However the present file is scannned copy of a 1959 edition.

1. Can we use this?
2. If not, can we use this by removing title page, prologue etc.?

Hi! How do we know the photo was published before 1951? According to the article on en-wiki his first move was released in 1955. We could asume that he was not famous before that date and then wonder if it is likely that his photo was published before that date. Hi Itu, ja, ich hab es zu der Zeit am vollständigen Bild gesehen, aber jetzt ist die Lizenz dafür geändert worden und wir können das Bild nicht mehr hochladen - sich auf eine damalige Lizenz für ein Werk zu berufen, das so hier noch nicht hochgeladen war, von dem nur eine Ableitung legal existiert, und dem jetzt hinreichende Lizenzierung enzogen wurde, ist trotz des Nichtzurücknehmenkönnens problematisch. Wir haben es halt zu dem Zeitpunkt nicht getan, deshalb ist es jetzt zu spät. Beste Grüße Hekerui (talk) 20:42, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I remember long time before we had some talks on commons. I need your help here. Recently I uploaded this image (1). It seems now there comes a new issue about the authors work. I have contacted the author and waiting for some response and as per response I believe we can move forward. But Hekerui on what basis that account was black-listed (This will help me so that next time I can watch out for author's status. I would like to share this also: after my upload I did some research and found no where that image being downloaded from some sites or taken from else-where. So with that I believe it must have been his own work (only based on my research I say this) but still when there are some doubts it is better we go by rules. Hi, Hekerui. I think this file, and all Arthur Goss's work, is PD in the US because its copyright expired in Canada prior to the URAA date. Goss died in 1940, so his work entered the public domain in Canada on January 1st, 1991 (end of the calendar year in which he died plus fifty years). More precisely, OTRS permission would be great for all logos (so asking the uploader if they claim own work does not harm); otherwise please stick to COM:TOO. Meaning, it depends on the country.
