Your license question

Since the image is only allowed for non-commercial use, the image is not allowed on the Wikimedia Commons. In the case of an image licensed under a Creative Commons license, the work in question must be licensed in a way which allows both commercial use and derivative works. See Commons:Licensing for more information on the types of licenses that this site will allow. (Zachary) 07:47, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I was about to say the same thing. :-) miranda 17:35, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, too!!! -- High Contrast (talk) 14:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
No, unfortunately not. Noncommercial Creative Commons images are never allowed on Wikimedia Commons. The only two licenses from Flickr that are allowed are Attribution and Attribution / Share-alike. Huskyoog.jpg Husky (talk to me) 08:23, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Valuable image

For your information, I took the liberty to nominate your nice image Commons:Valued image candidates/Rowers during 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony.jpg. --Foroa (talk) 10:01, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! Let's have a look if it's accepted as Valued image!--High Contrast (talk) 14:09, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
As you are not the nominator, I guess you can vote. I disagree completely with the "uncommon rowers", but I don't want to waste time on such discussions: if an "uncommon" image cannot not be valuable: so be it (for me).Anyway, I like the picture very much, so at least one happy person ;).--Foroa (talk) 14:49, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
You're definitely right. --High Contrast (talk) 16:39, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Egyptian_Air_Force_F-16.JPEG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

Weisst du da was?

Viele Grüße, High Contrast (talk) 07:32, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Deletion proposal Image:M-84HV.jpg

It's always funny to see a tag and description text not matching. What do you question here? The permission or exact source or maybe both, eh? I must note that unlike many western sites, ex-yu ones didn't have habit of archiving everything they published on web (for example if they were publishing only 12 last numbers of a magazine) so it might prove hard to provide an exact link to the image. 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ] 06:49, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

One more thing. Note that I am not the original uploader of the image. I left a comment on his talk page on sr.wp. Still it would be very useful to clear up the mess that different reasons for deletion proposal have made: "A source is given", "no exact source" etc. 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ] 06:59, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
In that case, it might be useful to contact an admin. I have understood what you have written, but it does not help us. Valuable information of this file is missing. Is the permission ok? Believe me, I am the last one that wants to delete any images, especially this one, because it's a rare photo, but we must take care of the licence regulations. --High Contrast (talk) 11:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Nono, don't direct anybody to an admin for the action you commit. I take it granted you know why you have marked this image with the specific template. Reading the template, the edit description and message on my talk page, I see self-contradictory stuff and here I am to ask what of that is actually concerning the real cause for scheduling this image for deletion. There is an permission (linked from the image page) for using any material from the site http://www.hrvatski-vojnik.hr/ (you can question that part). There is also a possible question whether this image comes from that site actually. Is that what you are questioning? Or maybe both. Explain yourself. 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ] 13:34, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

I have already tried to explain: I question basically both --High Contrast (talk) 13:54, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Why the first one? Permission has been sent from the e-mail that's mentioned as official on HV's page and especially for the copyright issues (which you could've easily checked). 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ] 14:28, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Ok! And the second? --High Contrast (talk) 14:31, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

I didn't find the image on the site, thus it can be disputed. I am currently waiting for response from the original image uploader. He's an sysop at sr.wp and I don't remember him doing anything 'violating' in the past. Thus I can set premise the image might have been once on the HV website. What are the ways to prove that? 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ] 14:39, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Well, proving it might be difficult. But that's the problem. Did you hear anything of the original uploader? --High Contrast (talk) 09:29, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

This user is apparently off wiki. Having a closer look on the image, I think it might have been scanned directly from the magazine. That's why I have written to the redaction of HV to ask them whether they permitted this kind of usage too and if they can confirm that the image has been published in the magazine. I didn't ask for the magazine and page numbers, but missing of that info should not be reason for deletion in the case they confirm holding the copyright over the image. Conversation is going through permissins-sr e-mail. 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ] 19:00, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

The user can't say more than I already have told. The redaction of HV apparently doesn't respond. The image shall be deleted if it is the policy who doesn't trust nor care. 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ] 10:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Unfortuneately, the image has been deleted. --High Contrast (talk) 14:23, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Wie so genügt auf einmal die obige Quellenangabe von den von Dir gerügten Fotos nicht? Sieh mal hier: http://www.cusnc.navy.mil/photos/index.html eindeutig, oder soll noch das hier eingefügt werden oder was fehlt jetzt? --wikifreund (talk) 22:09, 26 November 2008 (UTC) {{PD-USGov-Military}}

Please insert the exact photo-link, too. It's not a great job.
Meinen Einschätzungen nach wissen mindestens 50% der Leute nicht was "own work" eigentlich beschreibt und was dazu zählt und was {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} eigentlich bewirkt bzw. bedeutet.
mfg --D-Kuru (talk) 21:00, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Re: Image Tagging Image:MiG-35 1 main.jpg

Sorry if I made a mistake. I transferred image from en:Wikipedia where it is under GNU Free Documentation Licence. Reason for this transfer was no pictures in Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-35 Category. In Summary section I put source and original Author from original source. Please help me with this image. If it possible to keep it I will be grateful in the name of all Wikipedia project where the image is used since then. Thanks--Dtom (talk) 20:06, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

There is no problem with your way of uploading the image. You have stated your source (en:wiki). But it can be doubted that the original uploader on en:wiki is the author. What do you think we should do? You can remove the "no source"-tag and contact the original uploader. Would you do that? Greets, High Contrast (talk) 13:31, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Of course you are right. I sow GNU license and transferred the image without further check. I wrote to the author on en:Wikipedia and I hope that he was the author. What a pity for this image. Thanks for your patience, --Dtom (talk) 15:51, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
No problem! We must work together. --High Contrast (talk) 17:03, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Cool pic. Thanks for telling me the Upload! Now everything shoul be OK now. Can you post the image here, so that photo experts can remove the watermark in the image? Greetings back and have a nice time! --High Contrast (talk) 18:02, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

[[:File:{{{1}}}|{{{1}}}]]

mfg --D-Kuru (talk) 20:53, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Gut Kuru!
