[edit] OK to add?
I haven't removed it, but my initial intention was to have discussion regarding photographs of things. But if you think it should contain other things as well, please feel free to change it. -- WB 07:40, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- What happened to my talk page with (Talk:Wowowowowowowwowowwowow [1]. I appreciate
it but what happened. Please answer.--Dakota ~ 00:59, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- I don't come over here very often and have no appreciable edits so it surprised me. Thanks.--Dakota ~ 02:19, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Darfur image pending deletion
I got those protected page edits, I think Wikinews has a section on the Admin Alerts page to request things like that. Expect to see this more often, we're catching up on our protection duties for old stories. --Brianmc 19:48, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Holocaust.jpg
Hi, you listed this on COM:DEL two weeks ago. I have found that this is a photo from Buchenwald camp, 1938-1941. I have updated the image description page but I'm not certain if it is public domain or not. Thuresson 09:56, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:MM2.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. You've been renamed. Please go register the old account User:Aranda56 to prevent anyone else from taking that name and impersonating you. User:dbenbenn 21:52, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Photos from Flickr - mistakes
- Payt attention to license type version! Creative Commons license on Flickr is 2.0, not 2.5! I've also noticed CC-BY mistaken with CC-BY-SA.
- download largest resolution available (click on "all sizes")
- Use people's name from their profiles, not just a bare link! You MUST conform to "BY" requirement and give proper attribution to author.
- Not all CC licenses are permitted: Non-Commercial and No-Derivatives are forbidden on Commons.

[edit] Image:Fidelcastro1978.jpg
I loaded CC-BY-SA image over previous non-free one. Thanks for convincing author to release it! I also noticed your hunt for copyvios: keep up the good job!

[edit] Copyright expertise
Hi there. Thanks for checking up on Image:Van Soest, Attack on the Medway.jpg. I've tagged the same image at en.wiki. As you are an admin there, you might like to take responsibility for clearing it there as well (w:Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2006 August 16/Images.
But NB, if this image really is PD, then so is much of the National Maritime Museum collection. If I go downloading these (and I'd like to for certain articles), are you completely confident that Wikimedia (and me!) won't end up being sued? I'm serious about this, because UK law will apply to these pics (which, as far as I can tell, it didn't to the Bridgeman pics).
I'm not trying to pee on anyone's parade, just being cautious. If you are a copyright expert, then I'll happily follow your lead. If not, should this maybe go to people who are? JackyR 23:05, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
