Most Carlos Latuff political cartoons are GIFs in their original form at their largest sizes and highest resolutions.

So I don't think it is a good idea to use this template on those images:

I also noticed that you sometimes converted smaller versions of the cartoons to PNGs. This just makes more permanent the lesser quality of the image. It would be better to find the larger original GIF versions and upload them over the smaller GIF versions. --Timeshifter (talk) 13:02, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Both PNG and GIF are lossless formats so loss of information should not be an issue. I have not intentionally reduced the resolution of an image when making a PNG version. GIF images don't seem to be thumbnailed properly in galleries and categories and that is a problem. My computer grinds to a halt when it has to deal with several megapixel GIFs. // Liftarn (talk) 13:22, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I believe the GIF thumbnailing problem is temporary. I believe true GIF thumbnailing was turned off for awhile due to some problem the MediaWiki software was having in thumbnailing some types of animated GIFs. We need to tell the technical Village Pump that they need to turn true GIF thumbnailing back on.

As discussed here, it is important that any images upload from Flickr are given an appropriate name. In many cases this is unlikely to be the name given by the Flickr user. You need to ensure that both the name and description are edited appropriately to ensure they are accurate and don't give undue weight to a particular opinion. With Assassination of 14 year old boy.jpg, there seems to lack any real evidence that the image portrays what is described by the Flickr user. I would like to ask about these 2 images below. Were they indeed licensed as cc by 2.0 in April 2006 when you uploaded them? The flickrowner has been contacted but he does not reply. Did you know what licenses were acceptable for Commmons in April 2006 as this is a long time ago.
