[edit] Re: Unlinked images

I did the unlinking for purely practical reasons: Links to image description pages aren't useful on the upload forms. The copyright issue isn't something I considered. Given the fact that images used as icons (such as File:Cscr-featured.svg) generally do not link back to the image in usage on WM projects, I think my edits reflect the current conventions. Seems like my edits triggered a discussion over on the VP (and I wasn't informed about it...). I suggest discussion goes there rather than our talk pages.--Nilfanion (talk) 22:39, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Cropbot not working

Hi Luxo, just to inform you that Cropbot appears to be malfunctioning. While it will successfully upload the image and allow for cropping, when the crop preview window opens, nothing is shown, and it errors out if you try to save. It looks like the cropped image isn't be saved internally by the bot, but that's just a guess. I really do love this tool...perhaps my favourite of all toolserver tools. Huntster (t @ c) 22:08, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

hmm here it works. Which image generates the error?--Luxo 22:22, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Specifically, I was trying to crop File:Oasis of the Seas, October 30 2009.jpg using lossless (went ahead and manually cropped it though), but I'll note I've not been able to successfully use the bot in several weeks, with this exact same problem. I'll hit "Ok - crop this file" and it will appear to be processing and then just give up. Huntster (t @ c) 22:31, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Addendum: Appears that it is the lossless function that is messing up. I just tried three different images with lossless, and none worked. Tried the same three images with "crop exactly", and it did seem to work. Huntster (t @ c) 22:35, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok, thanks, I've found the bug > https://jira.toolserver.org/browse/TS-379 . If it's done it should work again. Greetings, --Luxo 10:18, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Fantastic, thanks Luxo. Huntster (t @ c) 16:42, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] derivativeFX not working when new image is derived from two images

Twice I had two images that derivativeFX failed to upload. Both times, the images were derived from two separate images (a PNG providing visual information and an SVG providing map data). The last step seemed to work, but the page that should have contained the image didn't exist. The final page simply sent me to Special:Upload rather than the image page. Will (Talk - contribs) 15:05, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

If the last step works, it's irrelevant how many images are provided, the data type too. There is no error message on the Special:Upload form? It could happen if your file is broken, but then you see a error message there. What browser do you use? --Luxo 17:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] DerivativeFX for videos?

Is it possible to get it to work with videos? Videos often need to be downconverted from a high resolution file (which can be 30MB) to a more streamable file that is just a few megs. mahanga (talk) 22:39, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

It works now with videos too. Thanks,--Luxo 15:37, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll give it a try sometime this week. mahanga (talk) 14:31, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Cropping files with quotes in the filename?

I'm trying to crop File:Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.jpg, but I'm not able to. The Firefox javascript console gives some errors. I'm able to crop other files. Bug maybe? Thanks, mahanga (talk) 17:53, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Jep, a bug. I'll fix it, Thanks --Luxo 15:21, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] rotated image not rotated on Wikipedia article

Something odd is happening at this[1] Wikipedia page, where (when I look) the image shows rotated, but the commons image is not rotated. Have you seen this happen before? I can't figure out how to fix it. If you know, and have the time to spare, I could use some help. Thanks. SaltyBoatr (talk) 18:12, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

That's a cache problem, you can purge the image and reload the page, then you see it correct. --Luxo 19:27, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
