Vectorisation propre[edit]

Salut,

These two files are identical, do you know the right orthography for the village? I'm writing you these because File:Blason de la ville de Inswiller (Moselle).svg is pending for deletion for nearly a month.

Sincerely Yours, --Topographie (talk) 16:44, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pourquoi as-tu détruit mon travail ? J'ai ajouté les nouvelles stations.Hektor (talk) 10:04, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that this file says it is a retouched version of File:Rue Saint-Jacques Eglise saint Jacques du haut Pas.JPG, but that page now appears to be a redirect to the retouched version. I saw your name in the edit summary of the redirect (the history has only one edit with no other history). Do you know where the original is? and what happened to its history? Thanks. --Robert.Allen (talk) 05:15, 8 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In this case neither of the criteria you cite (a duplicate or scaled down version) appear to apply to the original upload. The original file was a photo uploaded by the photographer who granted the license (20:07, 7 May 2008 FLLL). It seems to me that an original photo uploaded by the photographer should not be deleted, if it is an upload of a notable and suitable image. The user who uploaded the newer image claimed it was an altered version of the original: "This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Correction contraste, netteté et perspective. The original can be viewed here: Rue_Saint-Jacques_Eglise_saint_Jacques_du_haut_Pas.JPG. Modifications made by Gilles MAIRET." However, if this is untrue and the newer upload was indeed identical (perhaps uploaded in error), then the newer one should have been deleted, not the original. However, I notice that user MAIRET first uploaded newer versions on the original file page. Perhaps these are the versions which should have been deleted. --Robert.Allen (talk) 04:15, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I do not have access to the original upload, since I am not an administrator, but of course I have no reason to disbelieve you. However, I still feel it would have been better to delete the new uploads, leaving the original file page in place, so the history of the page created by the photographer would remain intact. Then there would have been less confusion. Best regards, --Robert.Allen (talk) 16:37, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The files are not identical. The metadata of the current file dates from 22 April 2009, which means the file was modified on that date, after the original image was uploaded on 7 May 2008. If possible, I would like you to restore the original file page and images. Thank you. --Robert.Allen (talk) 05:29, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for restoring the original file page. It turns out the original uploaded photo is much higher resolution than the adjusted versions. This gives us the opportunity to redo the adjustments to the full resolution version. I was beginning to feel like a nuisance to little purpose, but at least now I feel like it was worth pursuing. Thanks again for all the help and your patience! --Robert.Allen (talk) 03:53, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
