Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. Copyright, de novo

Imagens carregadas na Wikipédia em inglês ou na Desciclopédia não são automaticamente permitidas aqui. Na verdade, a maior parte da imagens da en.wiki não são permitidas no Commons pois são usada sob fair use. Dantadd✉ 23:17, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

O Commons é livre porque só abriga imagens livres, ou seja, sobre as quais não recai nenhum direito autoral que restrinja a distribuição da imagem. "Encher o saco" é responsabilidade e respeito pelo trabalho intelectual de outros, que muitos - infelizmente - adoram copiar. Dantadd✉ 21:37, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Mensagens que alega serem suas

Por favor não carregue para aqui imagens que não são suas, dizendo que são. Falo em concreto das imagens do site italiano [1]. Essa imagem também não é sua, foi tirada de um site da Polónia [2]. Outra coisa a referir é que não dá para fazer os uploads numa conta e fazer redirect da conta para outra conta. --JLCA 11:38, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
