Thank you for uploading File:Russell Wilson at the 2013 Jessie Vetter Classic, July 1, 2013.jpg to the Wikimedia Commons. I noticed that when you uploaded from another Wikimedia project, you left out some important information, or copied it incorrectly. In the future, please consider using CommonsHelper, a tool which automates the process of moving files over. Thank you,

Hey, you probably saw that I edited a lot of the images you uploaded[edit]

Hi, you might have noticed a flurry of activity in your watchlist. Here's a few things I noticed with your uploads:

  • When you upload from a Flickr source, it helps to add the {{flickrreview}} tag. If you uploaded the original, it lets us automatically verify that the license is valid, which is useful if the Flickr user ends up deleting the image of changing the license, as happens from time to time. It also sees if you've uploaded a lower res version, and uploads the original automatically....
  • Which gets me to the second thing - make sure you upload the largest version possible. It makes it easier for other users to crop, combine or otherwise do stuff with the pictures.
  • Avoid redundant categories - for example, if an image is already under Category:Cam Newton, don't add Category:Carolina Panthers or Category:Carolina Panthers players, because Category:Cam Newton is already included under those two other categories.
  • And finally, please upload photographs as JPEGs, not PNGs. PNGs look blurry when they're used on Wikipedia, and the Wiki software doesn't create thubmnails of PNGs, so they take use more bandwidth and take longer to load.

Anyways, thanks for your contribution to Commons. Take care. Ytoyoda (talk) 17:42, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

No worries - oh, and uploading images from Flickr is easier with Flickr Uploader (if you want pictures directly from Flickr) or Flinfo (good if you're uploading edited images). Ytoyoda (talk) 23:03, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Category for a person[edit]

Please see the instructions at the top of this page for helpful information about when you create a category for a person: [1]. I generally don't create a category for a person until there are at least two pictures of the person. Thanks and ciao. Jeffrey Beall (talk) 01:26, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
