Please note that a plain reproductive image of copyrighted material does not eleiminate the original copyright. Thus, Image:CDV1.jpg will have to be deleted; Most logos can not be uploaded to the commons, because the commons do not allow "fair use" images. -- Duesentrieb 23:35, 16 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Regarding Image:Berninapass.jpg: Please note that "from the german wikipedia" is not a valid specification of the source, as local copies of images that are on the commons may be deleted in the wikipedias and the info would thus be lost. Also, the GFDL states that the author/artis of the photograph has to be mentioned - copying an image without stating who mad it is a copyright violation, even (and especially) if the image is licensed under the GFDL. For this image i added the missing information, but please not the images laking crucial info may be deleted. -- Duesentrieb 15:25, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Image:Dentelles1.jpg[edit]

I have listed this picture at Commons:Deletion requests. Please don't take it personally: I like the other pictures you uploaded but this one's quality makes in unusuable for the Commons. --Martinroell 13:35, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Its ok, no problem. Michiel1972 13:42, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Image:Comics.jpg[edit]

I've listed this image at Commons:Deletion requests. I think you might have a misconception of its copyright status -- a photograph whose composition is made up entirely of copyrighted works is a derivative work, and cannot be licensed under the GDFL or any other license without the permission of the copyright holders. --Fastfission 00:25, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

River location maps[edit]

The river location maps Image:LocationPoRiver.PNG and Image:LocationRubicon.PNG that you made in April 2005 are excellent. It is easy to plot country and regional borders or to present the location of a city on a map. But good maps of rivers (and roads) are less common. What software did you use? If you can produce similar maps for other rivers, that time would be well spent. If you can write instructions for how to make such maps, all the better. --LA2 19:20, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

I used a map of Italy.jpg background (Image:Map of Italy (w.o. Labels).jpg) and only windows-paint program to draw river with a blue color.. (and using a good reference map) Michiel1972 18:09, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

Image:Bleu de Gex jpg.jpg[edit]

Can you please edit Image:Bleu de Gex jpg.jpg and indicate who specifically took the photo and when? This image is found on http://www.demelle.com/mature/pages/Bleudegex.htm along with many other similar images of French cheese, and I'm trying to verify that Wikipedia indeed has the right to use the image under the GFDL as you asserted. Thanks. -Harmil 12:50, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

Please can I ask you again to verify the origin and copyright status of this picture? --Gareth Hughes 12:18, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries) or put the images directly into a category, or do both. To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help. You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files here: Gallery

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- gildemax 13:56, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
