Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

RE: E-Mail: Image Orientation[edit]

Alles rund um's Thema gibt es auf Commons:Rotation. Da Du wahrscheinlich eine moderne Kamera besitzt (die Orientierungsbits bei Aufnahmen im Hochformat setzt), musst Du die Bilder gar nicht drehen, bevor Du sie hochlädst. Das macht MediaWiki automatisch. Allerdings könnten die Bilder vor dem Hochladen (in der Vorschau des Web-Browsers) falsch angezeigt werden, da die meisten Browser leider Exif-Orientierungsbits nicht verstehen.

Der Rotatebot, der die Bilder nun rotieren wird, wird sowohl die gewünschte Drehung, als auch den Exif-Orientierungsbit in Betracht ziehen. Das heißt, wenn Du die Bilder in MediaWiki um 90° gedreht siehst und eine Drehung von 270° beauftragst, werden sie danach richtig angezeigt werden. Nutze doch einfach den RotateLink.

Die meisten M$-Programme verstehen den Exif-Orientierungstag der Kamera nicht und zeigen die Bilder deshalb falsch an. Mit IrfanView kannst Du unter Optionen JPEG - verlustfrei... bearbeiten. Wenn Du dort Rotation nach Exif wählst, müsste es auch den "Windoof"-Programmen möglich sein, die bearbeitete Datei richtig anzuzeigen. Grüße -- RE rillke questions? 08:26, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Die meisten Bilder sehe ich -- im Brauser -- jetzt richtig; ABER in der Category:Abbaye_de_Saint-Ursanne erscheinen File:St-Ursanne-Collegiale-Chapelle-St-Jean-Baptiste.jpg und File:St-Ursanne-Collegiale-Interieur-1.jpg als Thumbnails immer noch / schon wieder verdreht, während die ganzen Bilder jetzt richtig kommen:

Das ist schon ein bisschen wie Black Magic, m.a.W. ich bin überfordert, bzw. habe mich immer noch nicht schlau genug gemacht ... Vielleicht sind noch weitere von meinen gestrigen Bildern betroffen.

JAAAA, da sind in der Oberkategorie Category:Saint-Ursanne noch File:St-Ursanne-Hotel-de-Ville-Detail.jpg, File:St-Ursanne-Porte-St-Paul.jpg und File:St-Ursanne-Porte-St-Pierre-1.jpg, die auch als Thumbnails gedreht erscheinen, während die ganzen Bilder richtig erscheinen:

M$-IE8 zeigt jetzt alles in korrekter Orientierung, Feuerfuchs 12.0 zeigt die Thumbnails 90° gedreht; ABER IE8 zeigt in den Kategorien Category:Saint-Ursanne und Category:Abbaye_de_Saint-Ursanne die neuen (na ja, ca. zwölf Stunden alten) Bilder in der Übersicht noch gar nicht an, Feuerfuchs wohl. Ich warte jetzt erst mal einen oder zwei Tage ab, bis die diversen Bots die diversen Servers durchgekämmt haben, und schaue dann wieder herein. Danke für die Unterstützung.

Wie ich sehe haben Sie ein Auge für architektonische Besonderheiten. Das macht mir ganz speziell Freude zu dieser Ihrer Aufnahme eines Erkers so ich ihn noch nirgends gesehen habe. Mir scheint Ihre Front-Aufnahme ganz speziell gelungn uns aussagereich. Irre ich mich oder sind im Fries vier Wappenschilder gemeisselt so wie auch auf den schmalen Seiten. Haben Sie dazu Details ? Danke für Ihr Interesse. Ich war, seit ich 2012 die Fotos gemacht habe, nicht mehr in St. Ursanne; ich habe keine weiteren Detail-Aufnahmen und kann Ihnen daher nicht sagen, wie das dort genau aussieht. Nol Aders (talk) 22:29, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
