Statement on Voting

You wrote this on my vote: "just too limited interactions with the community. Even more, there is limited understanding of superseded images and how they're handled here. Overall, just not ready.". I can live with the first part of that sentence, but I have no limited understanding of handling superseded images. I told it a dozen times and now I tell it to you again: I have made the superseded images by my own. The old png-type and the new svg-type. The png-Versions have clearly shown that they do never work better than my newer svg's. Not on the german wikibooks, nor in any other wiki-project, no matter which language. What is keeping you all from accepting this absolute incontrovertible fact? I know all problems and issues about deleting/keeping superseded images and if I tell someone that we can delete images of my own then believe me, it is completely no matter for opposing. Taric Alani

I've deleted your uploads of this model since it requires attribution that does not follow COM:L, and that it is out of project scope. Please see COM:VP#Explicit image uploads by User:Taric25‎ for details. O2 () 23:14, 08 October 2007 (GMT)

You deleted them in less than seven days, in fact, less than 24 hours, and did not allow me to even respond. Please undelete the images in order to allow us to continue the discussion by allowing us to view the form in which the artwork takes place, so we can decide which picutres to keep and which to delete. Yes, you heard me right, I am actually meeting you half way, because we don't need all of them, but I don't think you should have none of them. Please undelete and then discuss at COM:VP#Explicit image uploads by User:Taric25‎. Taric25 00:40, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Please take the matter up at Commons:Undeletion requests. They stay deleted unless otherwise agreed to undelete. O2 () 01:24, 09 October 2007 (GMT)
The e-mail sent to OTRS did not require that we link to his website. I did that as a courtesy. Please undelete and I will remove the requirement to link to his website. Taric25 02:56, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
What about the other requirements of derivative works and commercial use? O2 () 03:11, 09 October 2007 (GMT)
I went through this yestersday as well

Taric Alani You don't yet seem to understand what I was saying yesterday? You have a photo of a actor in an article or a category by their name, you DO NOT have to put that identicle photo in all those Categories, ONLY the article or Category with the original name. There is no need for all those duplicate photographs???

He is doing the same thing with new photographs, all over the place in Categories everywhere appropriate. when the actual category name is all that is required and duplicates everything, Just an FYI WayneRay 15:35, 9 October 2007 (UTC)WayneRay

Image:Pennsylvania Route 191 map.png

Image deletion warning Image:Pennsylvania Route 191 map.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

A request for help on Marian and Holy Trinity columns

None of the pictures at Marian and Holy Trinity columns have been placed in Category:Marian and Holy Trinity columns. All should be. It would be pretty tedious to do by hand. Can your bot do this? If not, can you pass along this request appropriately to someone else who might be able to handle it? Thanks in advance. - Jmabel | talk 06:02, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Image:BreuningerLogo.jpg

I am confused why this image is on the German wiki (on which the Breuninger page I wrote was based, for which I also wanted to use the image: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Breuninger-Logo.svg) and not ok in the English language wiki.

I see logos on wiki of all sorts of companies. The documentation, if I'm honest, is SO COMPLEX AND UNCLEAR. So any "simple" explanation would be much appreciated. BuzzWoof 14:01, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Commons does not accept fair use media. If that logo was published recently, and no copyright notice can be found, it is automatically copyrighted (all rights reserved). O2 () 21:01, 19 October 2007 (GMT)
Does that mean wiki does accept fair use media?BuzzWoof 13:13, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
This wiki does not. The English Wikipedia does. O2 () 18:24, 20 October 2007 (GMT)

re. Flickr reviewing

Thanks for the "promotion", and for your faith in me :) Giggy\Talk 07:21, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Could I get you to take a quick look at my first few flickr reviews, and just tell me if I made any mistakes? Cheers, Giggy\Talk 07:50, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Looks good. O2 () 02:10, 22 October 2007 (GMT)

Bot help needed

Hi. I've seen you had a bot so I wanted to ask you if you could replace Category:Decolleté by Category:Décolleté since it's the correct spelling. Also delete Category:Cleavage (breasts) after moving images into the new category Category:Décolleté. Is it possible? Many thanks. --TwoWings (jraf) * Wanna talk? ;-) 07:08, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:RoseWilderLane01.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Bot request

Hi. Would it be possible to have the bot add "Category:Advisory speed limit signs" to every image in Category:Speed limit signs which has the word "advisory" in the name? Many thanks. Smurrayinchester 13:59, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Note

Might want to have a chat with User:Koalorka, they just uploaded a new image with no source or permission saying it's cc-by-nc-nd-3.0... Maybe have them go over the licensing pages and make sure they understand all our policies etc. before allowing more uploads? Or a refresher on what licenses we accept and how to properly format description pages. -- Editor at Largetalk 04:23, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Never mind, I'm helping them out on the talk page of their image. :) -- Editor at Largetalk 11:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
