Warning sign
This media may be deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Abdominoplasty_skin_and_fat_removal.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Michael S. Schwartz, M.D was not the uploader, wasn't he? Lycaon (talk) 05:18, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The doctor's web site give's specific permission for Wikimedia Commons. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 07:49, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am the photographer/videographer for all media sourced from Michael S. Schwartz, MD. He has released all media that I would like to contribute to Wikimedia Commons via the CC-BY-SA-3.0 license. If there's anything I am missing in regards to the proper release and licensing of my uploaded work, please advise and I will have that taken care of promptly. I've got tons of quality digital media from all sorts of medical procedures, and I'd like to have all the wrinkles ironed out before I start "mass-contributing" to the community (I'd prefer to not have to deal with legality issues for every single file I upload *grin*). And although the process is difficult, I definitely appreciate the concern and help from all of the Wikimedians :). Paravis (talk) 18:27, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clearing this up. You won't need to cope with "legality issues" on each upload. One e-mail to OTRS from dr. Schwartz, stating that you are permitted to upload his work (your pictures) under CC-BY-SA-3.0 should suffice. The resulting OTRS ticket should then be mentioned on each of those uploads. That's all! Regards. Lycaon (talk) 21:13, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
So, now all your questions about the images seem to have been answered satisfactorily. Cheers Ww2censor (talk) 21:52, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Advance permission for images[edit]

We appreciate the the work you and Dr Schwartz are doing to provide high-quality freely-available images. And to answer your question, yes, it should indeed be possible to do this without having to release each image individually. The text on the website looks good, except that of course it's not really applicable to images that are not posted on that site, and will never be. What I suggest you do is to record a one-off permission with our OTRS system that can be used to validate all future uploads. The OTRS record will be given a unique tag number, and when uploading a new image all you will need to do is to include on the image page the template {{OTRS|number}} where "number" is replaced by your OTRS tag number.

Could you send an email, please, to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, confirming that Michael S. Schwartz, MD, owner of the website www.drmichaelschwartz.com, is the copyright owner of photographs taken by you, and that until further notice he authorises you to upload to Wikimedia Commons surgical and other photographs relating to his practise under the license CC-BY-SA-3.0, including photographs that have not been posted on the website. So that we have evidence of identity, the email should be sent from an address within the domain drmichaelschwartz.com. If you could post a note here or on my talk page when that has been sent, I will look for it in the OTRS system and let you know the tag number.

Please let me know if anything is unclear. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 16:31, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there Michael. Thanks for the information. The doctor and I are working on the OTRS ticket, and the e-mail has been submitted. Hopefully all should be good to go here shortly. And thanks to everyone else who has been so generously offering their advice. I can't wait to get my media up! Paravis (talk) 18:27, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Laz. The email has arrived, but I'm afraid it has not come from the drmichaelschwartz.com domain, so we have no way of validating the identity of the sender. Would you mind sending another one, please, from that domain? To avoid doubt, I suggest that you should copy this exact wording:
This confirms that Michael S. Schwartz, MD, owner of the website www.drmichaelschwartz.com, is the copyright owner of photographs taken by Commons user Paravis, and that until further notice I authorise him to upload to Wikimedia Commons surgical and other photographs relating to my practice under the license CC-BY-SA-3.0, including photographs that have not been posted on the website.
Thanks! --MichaelMaggs (talk) 18:49, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I'll see what I can do. I know that there is no active email hosting at the moment ... But would it suffice if we update the domain "whois" information to include drmichaelschwartz@gmail.com under the registrant contact information? I'm still going to check on the e-mail hosting for an address @drmichaelschwartz.com. Thanks! Paravis (talk) 18:59, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, great! Got the e-mail set up, sending it in, and we should be good to go.  :) Paravis (talk) 20:17, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks, that does it. All you need to do now, when you upload a new image, is to add {{OTRS|2009062410069953}} to the image page. Regards, --MichaelMaggs (talk) 21:39, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hooray! You have no idea how amazing this is :). Considering I'm such a noob, my excitement level is through the roof on this monumental accomplishment! Thanks again everybody. Paravis (talk) 22:01, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the images are great, and it is certainly appreciated that you've been willing to endure this less-than-streamlined process. I know it can be a pain, but it is necessary to ensure we're properly following the law. Cheers, and happy contributing! Huntster (t@c) 02:06, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
