Witam,
Cieszę się, że nareszcie znalazłem użytkownika z Polski który też jest aktywny na Commons. Ja tu już byłem przez prawie dwa lata. Jeśli byś mi podał twój numer gadu-gadu, to chętnie bym na temat Commons porozmawiał. :D Freedom to share 21:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC) (Jeśli nie chcesz tu wyświetlić, to możesz mi mailem wysłać. Witam,
Najpierw chciałbym cię przeprosić, gdyby moje komentarze się wydawałyby anty-Polskie. Też jestem Polakiem, kocham ojczyznę, i zauważyłem, że często Polacy są krytykowani na Commons, szczególnie w Featured Picture Candidates. Niestety często się pojawiają komentarze takie jak 'typical polish sponsored support', ponieważ wiele uważa, że Polacy tutaj zawarli koalicję czy coś w tym rodzaju :D i tylko głosują 'Support' jak Polak wstawia jakieś zdjęcie, szczególnie jeśli tematyka jest związana z Polską. Problem polega na koncepcie 'national voting', czyli głosowania narodowego, z którym prawie nikt tu się nie zgadza. Próbowałem wytłumaczyć, że ten fenomen nie istnieje i że głosowałem, ponieważ mi się zdjęcie podobało. Poproszę o odpowiedź zwrotną.

- There are 2 more election related photos in Category:Politics of Belarus.
- I saw some photos on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/by/). Several other photoalbums was mentioned in http://community.livejournal.com/minsk_by і http://community.livejournal.com/minsk_news. I could not find e-mails to contact the authors for asking them to re-license images under CC-BY-SA (or other license), but you could try if you have LJ or Flickr accounts.

If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}}to release it under the GFDL or{{PD-self}}to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Of course, you are welcome to write at the English Village pump!! I just wanted to let you know that the Polish one exists. I wasn't sure if you already knew or not.
Multilinguality is a big problem for the Commons... we are always aware of this and trying to make it better. But we are limited by the software. Even User:Duesentrieb wrote some excellent patches that use interwiki links to provide some kind of "translation", but they haven't been implemented yet. So we keep trying. We always welcome new ideas, if you have some.

Hi Przykuta (man, and people say my username is hard to pronounce! ;)),
I think it is an interesting idea, but it does seem to work best in support of other projects (wikipedia or commons), rather than as its own project.
It is possible that Commons can have many more different types of pages and galleries than we currently have. There's no mandate or rule that we can only have the one type. I don't think a separate namespace is necessary, but we could possibly ask the dev's to put one in if it proves popular.
I suggest you start making the pages that you are interested in. Put them in a special category or put a special template on them that shows they are something different. like Category:Wikialbums. Explain on the category page what you're trying to do. (Also put pages in categories that describe their content, of course!)
If it catches on, maybe it will be worth considering to a separate space or separate project. But until there is actually content to talk about, it is a little hard to say anything definite about it.
In general I find the wikicommunity is not destructive for no reason, so just try something new and go for it. You have nothing to lose! :) --pfctdayelise (translate?) 09:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Przykuta,
100k galleries is a while off, I think. Also, many of our galleries are of poor quality - few images, just the same as the category, no explanation of the topic. So I wouldn't be in a hurry to promote our galleries. :)
It looks like 2M uploads will be coming extremely soon. This could be a good chance to highlight the quick growth of Commons. Since the 1M uploads there have also been several technical improvements, like Mayflower search engine, geotagging interface with Google Earth.Maps, RSS feeds, improved audio/video playback, interface with Flickr. That's quite a lot, really. :) Shall we prepare a 2M upload press release?
1000FP (Features pictures) is also coming up, I think 2M uploads will come first though.
As for Polish projects... we have actually a very large number of Polish admins, and generally a pretty active Polish community. In fact native Polish speakers are the third largest group of admins at Commons, after native English speakers and native German speakers (ahead of French and Spanish!). In my experience plwiki has enthusiastically embraced the Commons vision which is very happy for us. :)
User:Ejdzej is extremely active, mostly with administration things I think, but he might be able to tell you things that are going on. User:WarX is another very active admin, and also has done a lot of work with SVGs, with some FPs such as Image:Oil well scheme.svg (not a very exciting one. maybe he can tell you the other ones).
Is there something specific you want to know about "the Commons community"?

cze, pytałeś w BARze czy ktoś nie widział grafiki z uściskiem dłoni. Nie wiem czy to aktualne, bo nie często tu zaglądam, ale znalazłam coś takiego: Image:Ruzgar-deneme-yönetici4.png - na przezroczystym tle, może ci się nada.
I po drugie. Gdzie mamy zgłaszać błędy na mapach ? Generalnie zmienił się podział województw w 2004 (czyli 5 lat po oficjalnym podziale administracyjnym w 1999 roku) - chodzi mi o zmianę dwóch solectw (Piekiełko i Krajewo) z woj. warmińsko-mazurskiego (gmina Iłowo-Osada), które przeszły na stronę mazowiecką i stały się częścią Mławy. Niestety mało która mapa odzwierciedla tę zmianę - nawet te oficjalne, które wiszą przed urzędem gmimy. --Beax 13:49, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi Przykuta, thanks for your message.
I am not totally clear on what you mean. When you say "illustration" do you mean in a general sense, including (e.g.) photographs, or in a more specific sense, like diagrams?
Sometimes FP has excellent Q, but nothing more. - what does this mean? What is "Q"?
If you are proposing to make it easier or encourage more Wikimedia projects to use Commons FPs, I think it is a very good idea. It would be cool if there was a tool where you could put in your project (eg pl.wikipedia) and based on interwiki links it would show which FP images weren't used there and suggest articles to put them on.
explain your idea to me a little bit more and we'll see what we can come up with...

- Illustrate Paradise? ;) In truth, I know many of the sunsets are not great for encyclopedias, but to be honest many of them were nominated some time ago, these days it is much harder for a sunset to be accepted. But I am not sure what you think we should or could do about it? We're hardly going to delete them. :)
- It could be a good idea to encourage FPC nominators to make sure the description is complete, so it is easier to use in Wikipedia...

- To be honest I don't think this proposal would succeed, because this is kind of what "Featured Pictures" on Wikipedias (English Wikipedia, at least) does. They strongly prefer images that "Adds value to an article and helps readers to understand an article. An image's encyclopedic value is given priority over its artistic value" (see Wikipedia:Featured picture criteria).
- I see there is pl:Wikipedia:Grafika na medal - propozycje... they don't have this kind of criteria about usefulness?

- Hi, I noticed this thread, and I would like to bring to your attention that we have a new project in its infancy called Valued Images. The proposal is being discussed here. The general idea with this project is to identify and promote images which are the optimized for their value and usefulness for display in online content in WMF projects. It puts less emphasis on the technical qualities. It is hoped that it can stimulate contributions of a wide diversity of subjects, thus being of more general use in WMF projects than the FPs. Currently the draft guideline is being stress tested with some examples in a test vote. I feel your input could be valuable in this context. Hej, możesz sprawdzić dlaczego usunięto moją fotkę - File:Kronika miasta Łodzi - nr 1-2008.JPG. Zdjęcie było zrobione przeze mnie, licencja podwójna GFDL|cc-by-sa-all, fotka była opisana, podałem że ja jestem autorem, więc czemu skasowano? Dzięki. Arewicz (talk) 20:46, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Na fotce była okładka czasopisma, podobna do tej, którą wrzucam obok. Dziwne, tym bardziej że resztę zostawiono ... Dodam, że czasopismo jest finansowane przez Urząd Miasta, więc nie jest copyright. Arewicz (talk) 00:12, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
