Hello, Rosemania!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Hi, love the photos[edit]

I love the photos you took in the Chinese Palace Museum! Excellent. I have a question: have you yet to upload any further pictures from the palace museum? That Han Dynasty ceramic pot with the dragons and phoenixes is breathtaking. I found it so intriguing that I added it to the English Wikipedia article for Han Dynasty. Do you have any more Han pics stored away? If so, I would be very grateful if you uploaded one or two more for use on Wiki. Thank you very much for downloading these pictures!--PericlesofAthens (talk) 16:48, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

License contradicts itself[edit]

Rosemania, there's a problem with your photos such as File:Huehueteotl munah.jpg. The Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license contradicts with flickr's "all rights reserved". I suggest you change Flickr license OR remove links to your Flickr account from the files, because "all rights reserved" source shouldn't be stated as the original image source. Thanks! -- deerstop. 00:00, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Majiayao culture ?[edit]

I am working on the photos of ceramics from China. The photo named :" China Majiayao painted pottery.JPG " is completely different in term of style of the shape and decoration. The zoomorphic decoration is typically the one of the Machang style. Are you sure of that term Majiayao for this pottery ? Thank you for this excellent photography ! Sorry to disturb you. I have found an other vase of that type in the Musée Guimet. Ismoon (talk) 22
