[edit] Images
i was wondering, why not instead of making such a fuss on the hornwort page, you didnt just upload the svg with the typo fixed on top of the old one. that way it saves resources time and effort from everyone involved. i dont know of others, but what goes for my images, you can upload the new version on top of the wrong one. :) as for why i left the mesage here, well your user page in wikipedia doesnt exist -LadyofHats (talk) 10:32, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Limulus polyphemus.png
Hello,
Because the original image is under the cc-by-sa-2.5 license, derivate works based on it have to have the same license. So I have corrected the license of Image:Limulus polyphemus.png. --CHristoPHE 10:36, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Paleoclimate
Paleoclimate is often presented from right to left. You don't need to editorialize on an image description because you prefer one presentation over another. Dragons flight (talk) 22:09, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Smith609!
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
- [[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
- [[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
- [[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

[edit] Great image.
Your photo of glacier contact with rock, shown to the right is fascinating. Thanks for posting such a lovely high-resolution shot. It raises several questions:
- The floor of the ice cave appears to be ice/snow with some rock debris interspersed - is this correct?
- There appear to be distinctive bands of fine debris starting at 40 cm up and continuing periodically even to the top of the photo. Is that impression consistent with your first hand observation?
- The dark 20-cm band of ice at the bottom appears on close inspection to be fairly transparent. When you look at it closely it appears the rock surface under the ice layer is relatively rough (as opposed to scoured smooth). Is that impression consistent with your first hand observation?
- I don't think that you can
If you would be so kind, please reply here. I'll check back periodically.
