If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). Hi !

A general rule : assume everything is copyrighted unless you have a definite prrof of the opposite. For the two cases you mention :

Image:Vidalia-logo.png is a logo, and a logo is 99% of the time copyrighted. This one is, as far I see, you can not use it on Commons (it is basically a sort of fair use...). Please put {{copyvio}} on the page so that an admin can erase it.
Image:Stumble Bar.png is a screenshot, and only screenshot of free software can be free. Screenshots of copyrighted software are copyrighted in the same way, and I think it is the case for StumbleUpon. Unless you can prove it is free software, it has to be deleted (same as above).

Well, en.wikipedia uses Fair Use, which is a thing barely legal, and then only in the US. It has been forbiden on de.wikipedia and will be shortly on fr.wikipedia. Now, on en:, they have a lot of junk in the media files, believe me :-) the rule here is simple : don't upload fair use, hence be extra careful when importing material from the Wikipedias. le Korrigan →bla 13:04, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Hallo, Speck-Made, ich sehe, Du hast die den Species zugeordneten Bilder der Gattung Eichhörnchen mit der Category Sciurus versehen. Vielleicht schaust Du Dir mal folgede Projekte in Commons an: Commons:WikiProject Tree of Life und insbesondere fogenden Passus: Commons:WikiProject Tree of Life#Images. Bei Pflanzen und Tieren wird da nach einem bestimmten Schema versucht, "Ordnung" zu finden. Aus eigener Erfahrung kann ich sagen, es ist eine langwierige "Arbeit", die Species von Pflanzen und Tieren zu klassifizieren. Vor allen Dingen muss bei solchen Gattungskategorien, wie Du sie bei den Eichhörnchen gestaltet hast, immer und immer wieder durch Anklicken jeden einzelnes Bildes gecheckt werden, ob ein Bild schon einer bestimmten Pflanzen - oder Tierart zugeordnet ist. Wenn jemand von einem Bild die genaue Art nicht kennt, bringt er die unbekannte Art in einen Gattungs- oder Familienbereich. Sind nun, wie in dem Beispiel, das ich hier anspreche, über 80 Bilder hinterlegt sind, wird sich kaum noch jemand finden, nachzuprüfen, ob in der Gattungskategorie neue, vielleicht wichtige Bilder sind, die nach wissenschaftlichem Schema zu bestimmen und klassifizieren sind. Nachdem ich Deine "Bedenken" jetzt hoffentlich richtig verstanden habe kann ich sagen, dass mir diese Aspekte sehr wohl bewußt waren. Daher habe ich keine eigene "Interpretationsarbeit" geleistet, sondern nur nach bisherigen Kategorisierungen und den Dateinamen (ggf. nach nachschlagen der Art) kategorisiert. Sollte dabei etwas falsch sein, so war es ohnehin schon falsch und ist so wahrscheinlich noch auffälliger erkennbar.--Speck-Made 19:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
