SVG transfers[edit]

Thanks. Something didn't quite seem right there. Will redo when I get the chance. Daniel Case (talk) 01:07, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: File:Canada Quebec location map-conic proj.svg[edit]

Hello.
I use the comercial GIS software Global Mapper in v.10 (349 US$ for the version 11). It's a powerfull but friendly to use software. For me, one of the best regarding my needs here on Wikipedia. Sting (talk) 13:26, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

David, can you upload a revised version of File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-en.png for me? The file is here. The change is very minor. I have modified the default background color to be #f6f6f6 for display in older browsers like IE6. That color better matches the default skin. You can see the difference at [1]. It does not effect display in other browsers. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers --Svgalbertian (talk) 18:16, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I'm familiar with the bKGD workaround and sorry that I didn't think to include it myself. I've uploaded the new version. Thanks very much! —David Levy 19:32, 7 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Globe logo transparency[edit]

Thank you so much Svgalbertian! I immediately noticed a difference when I logged into the English Wikipedia earlier, and kindly appreciate you addressing this issue. I actually felt a bit silly complaining about something so trivial, but it was very distracting... almost like a fly on my screen that constantly needed to be swatted away. No matter how hard I tried concentrating on other regions on the screen, my eye kept being drawn to the one thing that was really unsightly and out of place. It looks much better now! Thanks again :) -- WikHead (talk) 04:07, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please can you fix the colours in the above file? The inside of the O and P is a different colour of red to the rest of the sign. Thanks in advance. --99of9 (talk) 12:19, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed.--Svgalbertian (talk) 15:41, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. --99of9 (talk) 07:10, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank's[edit]

Thank you very much!--Gaeser (talk) 17:52, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please read Commons:Superseded images policy and stop marking non svg images as dupes of svg images like you did at File:NYCS-bull-trans-Ad.png? Thank you, Multichill (talk) 18:12, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I only mark images duplicate if they are pixel for pixel exact copies and are not required for attribution, but I understand this is a touchy subject so I have opened a deletion request.--Svgalbertian (talk) 01:22, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Svgalbertian/Archive!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Other uses for Highway Route Marker Bot[edit]

Svgalbertian,

Highway Route Marker Bot sounds perfect for a project of mine, generating svg highway shields for OpenStreetMap-related projects. Is the bot code available as F/LOSS ? I would like to run it locally to generate large numbers of shields which might not be suitable for wikimedia commons due to the volume and resolution. -- Rweait (talk) 21:22, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can find the code at User:Highway Route Marker Bot/Script let me know if you have any questions. Cheers --Svgalbertian (talk) 15:32, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seal of Rhode Island spelling error[edit]

I noticed that your seal of Rhode Island picture contains a spelling error. "Plantations" is spelled "Planations."

I only found this after watching the Colbert Report which aired 11/3/10, wherein they showed the RI seal, which I noticed the error. I then did a search for the seal online, and your copy was the highest resolution available. They must have used your photo!

The Colbert Report is one of my favourite shows on television, and as an advid misspeller of words I am truly honored to have my work featured there. --Svgalbertian (talk) 15:32, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Saskatchewan Highway Signs[edit]

Reply to Some info on Canadian copyright Thank you for your email. Today, a note has been sent off to the Ministry of Highways, Government of Saskatchewan regarding the wheat sheaf, close up of images regarding wikimedia commons existing highway signs - complete, wikimedia commons licensing, wikipedia highway articles and the OTRS recommendations. They will reply as soon as possible. Kind Regards SriMesh | talk 19:51, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Any chance you can extract the official logo from [2] and outline the text? I remember you doing the same type of thing for the Calgary Airport Logo, so I was wondering if you could give this a shot. It should be okay to upload it to Commons also, under PD-shape PD text and the Trademark template. Thanks! Connormah (talk | contribs) 21:54, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I might get around to it in a couple of weeks or so. If you want to do it, try PDF2SVG. If you use Ubuntu just type "sudo apt-get install pdf2svg" to install it.--Svgalbertian (talk) 19:58, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - I can wait...I tried it once, but it just wouldn't work for me. Thanks! Connormah (talk | contribs) 18:39, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
