- Hi Swindler305! I was patrolling recently uploaded images when I came across this pic of Trapp Mendoza. Cool pic, but we probably won't be able to keep it. :\ Only images that are licensed by the original author/photographer in such a way that anyone can copy, publish, and/or modify the image in any way they want (we call this freely licensed even though it has nothing to do with money). As you can imagine, most photos found online aren't licensed this way. If they are freely licensed, that copyright license info must be posted at the source so it can be verified. If you have questions leave a note on my talk page. Cheers! :D -Brynn (talk!) 16:32, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again. If you took the photo, please indicate that in the permission area of the image info. Something like "I, your name here, the uploader, am the photographer and copyright holder of this image". Also, when you leave messages, you can sign the message by typing ~~~~. About your recently deleted image
First of all, read over our licensing requirements and make sure that this is what you really want. Once you've done that, the best way to handle this is to email your rapper friend and ask him to agree to the following statement:
- I, Trapp Mendoza, affirm that I am the copyright holder of the image at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Trappmendoza2008.jpg. I permit this image to be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons, and for it to be made available to all under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. I understand that this license permits re-publication by anyone, with or without modifications, for any purpose, including for-profit uses outside of Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
Once you get a response, forward the response to firstname.lastname@example.org with a note about this situation and an OTRS volunteer will take care of the rest. :) If there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know. Love, Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 17:13, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- No. As I said, read our licensing requirements. Any material here has to allow some basic freedoms, like allowing alteration, and permitting commercial use. If you don't think he will consent to that, then it cannot be here. Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 18:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi! If you want to upload a photo of a singer, the best way is to take a photograph by yourself and decide what's the copyright license of that picture. If a photographer took the photo and sold it...probably he doesn't like that this photograph appear in a Wikipedia article. Regards Rastrojo (D•ES) 15:09, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
