Hello, Travürsa!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

CSA map[edit]

MO and KY were indeed admitted to the CSA, though it lacked any control over them. Why not go to the talk page for the CSA on enwp and chat about my next version, which is being worked on? --Golbez (talk) 15:19, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"as I know you'll most likely revert it again under the "3 reverts rule"" Well that's not very good faith of you. --Golbez (talk) 15:57, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Change request[edit]

Greetings. I see that in the past you have modified File:Periodic Table Armtuk3.svg. Would it be possible for you to make two more changes, namely:

  1. to replace the word 'Uuq' in box 114 by 'Fl' (the symbol for Flerovium);
  2. to replace the word 'Uuh' in box 116 by 'Lv' (the symbol for Livermorium).

The reason is that these are the new official element symbols recently assigned by the IUPAC, superseding the temporary systematic names. The file was generated with the Adobe Illustrator SVG plug-in, and I think this needs to be changed with the same tool to maintain compatibility.  --Lambiam 18:12, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I see that there are two other files, File:Periodic Table Armtuk.svg and File:Periodic Table Armtuk2.svg, which render almost identically, but which were easy to change. I don't know what the genetic relationships between these three files are.  --Lambiam 22:15, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
