In the future, please list supersession requests at COM:DEL/S. Yonatan talk 03:09, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- From the looks of it, entries there never get deleted. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 03:11, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- We do have a bit of a backlog problem. This is mostly due to the fact that we have to manually replace the old versions of the files with the new versions of the files wherever they're used (sometimes on many pages in many wikipedias). If you post it to COM:DEL and it's used in many places, it may take a while for it to be closed as well. Yonatan talk 03:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:New_York_State_Route_47_(1980_Expy)_map.png
| Image deletion warning | Image:New_York_State_Route_47_(1980_Expy)_map.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. [edit] Southern Tier Expressway
Ever thought about creating an Shield Image for the Southern Tier Expwy? (I-86/NY 17) They are regularly posted along with the I-86/NY 17 shields along the route, would it be possible for you to make one? Pictures of the green and white shield can be found on: http://www.teresco.org/pics/alaska-20010606-30/06-ste.html (2nd picture, 5th picture)
(-Ngs61 March 03, 2008 2:53 pm)
- I may give this a try when I have some more free time. Someone uploaded a pretty high-quality picture of the shield and put it on the NY 17 article, so I should be able to make it. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 04:15, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Florida 24A
Hey, I noticed you fixed my attempt at making
, and i screwed up again on
. Could you help me with this problem in Inkscape? This only happens whenever I create a textbox, this black-out does not occur when I simply change a template and convert to path. Any advice would be a huge help, and I could begin making shields in large quantities. (and stop uploading bad shields that create more work for you) Thanks! Brandonrush (talk) 20:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hey. When I fixed the Arkansas 23S shield, I noticed that the black boxes were caused by what Inkscape calls "flowed text". If you convert the text to path by clicking on the text, then selecting "Path > Object to Path", the black boxes will go away and the text will render as intended. Hope that helps. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 04:12, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Success! In these selfish times, it is very refreshing to see one take time to help another. Thanks a ton! Brandonrush (talk) 17:13, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] I'm confused
Hi, TMF. I don't quite understand your edit summary here; can you explain? Powers (talk) 20:20, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I dunno...at the time I was going through the category, the shield just looked out of place with the pictures. However, I looked through some of the subcategories of state highways in New York, and it looks like someone added shields to those categories so I suppose it's fine to include it. It would probably be better in just the "Parkways in New York" category; although the LOSP is technically a state highway, the state highway category generally deals with numbered routes only. That's just my opinion, though, and probably doesn't have any backing in either logic nor Commons practice. =) --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 04:56, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

[edit] MTF and SVGs...
Hey there,
I would like to inquire on how you keep your text properly formatted on your maps. For example, your map of NY 375 has all the cities in the right place, and is formatted properly when they are converted to PNGs. As you may have seen, I seem to be having troubles somewhere. Is there possibly a step I'm missing somewhere? 25or6to4 (talk) 06:19, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- I add all of my text in Inkscape using its text tool. I've never had any luck with adding text in QGIS. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 00:09, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello TwinsMetsFan!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.
To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.
- [[Category:Category Name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:
- [[Category:Astronomy diagrams]]
- [[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.
For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.
The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.
Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.
