[edit] Image:GHG_per_capita_2000.jpg

Image deletion warning Image:GHG_per_capita_2000.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Hello!

Thank you for providing images to the Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on the Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you. Finn Rindahl 17:57, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I had a good look everywhere and couldn't find any instructions on how to tag the image with categories. Vinny Burgoo 21:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, didn't notice your reply here. I see that you've figured it out now by your self ;) Happy editing, Finn Rindahl 12:45, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:CO2 responsibility 1950-2000.svg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-3.0 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. --Filnik 23:48, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

This was (and is) a "self-made" image. The problem seems to be that, when uploading it, I got a bit too clever and, while pasting various bits into other fields, changed the lower-case "s" in "self" to an "S" - to "Licence: Self made" or "Self-made" (I forget which) rather than the apparently required "self made" or "self-made" (or whatever it is). - VB Vinny Burgoo 00:25, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
We all get "too clever" every now and then, that also was also the case with this bot which gave you a not very precise message ;) The problem here is not source (Self made, self made or own work etc all work just fine. What you forgot to da was add a copyright tag which is where you state under which license you release your self made contribution for public use. If you want to use the same lisence as for your previous uploads, just add
GFDL
or choose a different lisence accepted at commons (see link on top of this page). Let me know if I can be of assitance, happy editing Finn Rindahl 00:54, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. It's done. Vinny Burgoo 10:48, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
No lisence tag removed. Regards, Finn Rindahl 10:53, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't understand this comment. Please try again.Vinny Burgoo 00:54, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Kyoto36-2005.png

Is there a good reason this had "Piszant" as a Kyoto 36 country? Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 02:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes. Vinny Burgoo ( ) 22:21, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Care to tell me why you'd put a non-existent country there? Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 22:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
And furthermore, are you really suggesting that Latvia has negative carbon emissions? Since 1990 they've started absorbing more carbon than they produce? Why do I find that dubious? Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 03:15, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Because you are scientifically, technologically and politically literate? Vinny Burgoo ( ) 22:21, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Want to fish for a block some more? Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 22:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
So compliments can you get you blocked these days. Well I never. Vinny Burgoo ( ) 22:46, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Okay, ironically, I misread that as "illiterate". Disregard that. Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 22:53, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I removed the 37th country. Could you please show me the source of these numbers? Especially Latvia seems...awkward. Thanks, --ChrisiPK (talk) 03:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
It's here at the UN. Vinny Burgoo ( ) 22:21, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
The data there does not support the figures in the graph. Yes it does. But there's still the "Piszant" issue. Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 22:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
That's right. See here: Changes in GHG emissions including LULUCF. I concede the Piszant issue. It must have been a moment of madness. Do your worst, Wiki-tyrants.Vinny Burgoo ( ) 22:46, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
'*calls upon the mighty Jimbo to smite thee*. Okay, done. That was silly of you, but we're all entitled to moments of madness (see "fish for a block" above for an example of it on my part). Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 22:53, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
(I remain unsmitten. Not sure if that's a good thing, but ... .) What is the meaning of the dashed box around ChrisiPK's contribution? Regards, Vinny Burgoo ( ) 19:52, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Someone put a space at the beginning of the line by accident, I think. Lewis Collard! (lol, internet) 23:37, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

The Psizant reference and the bogus Latvia data make the whole graph appear to be a farce. Oliver Wingenter

The Latvian data might be a farce but it isn't bogus: it's official. The Psizant thing was a (stupid, silly, regrettable) comment on this state of affairs. So we probably agree. Vinny Burgoo (talk) 19:54, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello Vinny Burgoo!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Commons images are used by editors on many projects in many languages. Each image is put into categories. This helps other editors find them. Please add categories to each image you upload.

To add an image to a category, add the following code to the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbit of comets, add the following to the image description page:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories: Astronomy diagrams, Comets.

For further information on categories read Commons:Categories.

The CommonSense Tool often helps you find the best category for your image.

Here is a gallery of your images. Please check that each image has a category. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the help desk. Thank you.
