image use

Dear Walter,

I am writing a book about lagomorphs, with co-author John Seidensticker, for Johns Hopkins University Press, to be published in fall 2010, called "Rabbits: the Animal Answer Guide." I found two of your images here that we would like to use in the book, an American pika and a brush rabbit at

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ochotona_princeps_9482.JPG http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sylvilagus_bachmani_01035t.JPG

I'm not sure it is necessary given the license notices, but I am asking for your explicit permission to use these images. I am new to Wikimedia and have gotten conflicting advice about whether such permission is required; perhaps you can clarify?

Thank you very much. Regards, Susan Lumpkin, susanlumpkin@gmail.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.163.191.9 (talk • contribs) 12:57, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Banned user userpages

I was following an old thread involving User:Pogrebnoj-Alexandroff and had to dig to find his old userpage. Is it standard practice to blank userpages for banned users, rather than sticking the "banned" template at the top? +sj + 03:56, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

I've been hoping that Tiptoety can sort it out. I'm busy at the moment, but will try to find time to read the discussion and comment. Walter Siegmund (talk) 22:14, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
