Thanks for uploading Image:HNEisenbahnmuseum9.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-3.0 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Image deletion warning Image:IronsideVan.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Hello, Xocolatl!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

--Holger (talk) 20:39, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Xocolatl (talk) 08:07, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
-- 109.193.161.69 11:31, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
 • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
 • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
 • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
 • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
 • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it, ask its master (Filnik) or go to the Commons:Help desk. --Filnik 12:21, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

File:Wilhelma Nestbauer.jpg[edit]

Hi, I do not speak German and I wonder what this means in this file; "File:Wilhelma Nestbauer.jpg". Does it mean that someone else took the photograph? Has the author of this photograph given permission for it to be uploaded to commons? Snowmanradio (talk) 12:35, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, she did. --Xocolatl (talk) 13:29, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. I have clarified the English details on the file. I am not sure if the German details need explaining as well - it might help if you clarified the file details as well by editing the page in confirmation. Snowmanradio (talk) 15:07, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is, i.m.h.o., not the photographer, the problem is the zoo. Wilhelma would never allow photographs taken from inside the garden to be published as “public domain”. If they should exceptionally do so, this licence has to be archived with the photo. -- 109.193.161.69 11:40, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Esslinger Fotos Kameraposition hinzugefügt, Bitte weitere Fotos machen[edit]

--Xocolatl (talk) 20:11, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We wanted to let you know that we've used one of your pictures in a project of ours: http://litpics.tumblr.com/post/14087951555/lit-the-girl-aviators-and-the-phantom-airship-by

We created a computer program to generate random pairings of sentences from public domain texts and public domain / creative commons images. Some of the pictures we've selected come from the Wikipedia Commons. All the pictures we select ourselves, but the pairings and the text are random. Of these pairings that are generated, we only post the most interesting combinations.

We welcome any feedback about our site.

Bild Christoph Horn.jpg[edit]

Hallo Xocolatl,

Thanks for uploading File:Christoph Horn.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

--Xocolatl (talk) 17:42, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Xocolatl,
Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2013, and for sharing your pictures with the whole world! We would like to ask again a few minutes of your time.

Thanks to the participation of people like you, the contest gathered more than 365,000 pictures of cultural heritage objects from more than 50 countries around the world, becoming the largest photography competition to have ever taken place.

You can find all your pictures in your upload log, and are of course very welcome to keep uploading images and help develop Wikimedia Commons, even though you will not be able to win more prizes (just yet).

If you'd like to start editing relevant Wikipedia articles and share your knowledge with other people, please go to the Wikipedia Welcome page for more information, guidance, and help.

To make future contests even more successful than this year, we would like to invite you to share your experiences with us in a short survey. Please fill in this short survey in your own language, and help us learn what you liked and didn't like about Wiki Loves Monuments 2013.

Kind regards,

Picture of the Year 2013 R1 Announcement[edit]

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 startet in Kürze[edit]

Hallo Xocolatl,

Deletion request of your upload by Messina[edit]

See Commons:Deletion requests/File:Elise Krinitz.jpg. The deletion request was filed by a sock IP of Messina. Do you know who the author is and when the portrait was done? I'd guess the 1870s, so the license is good, but author/date information is needed. @Steinsplitter: Can you have a look at this in case a German speaking admins help is needed? I'm sorry... the source was either Forschungsergebnisse zu Krinitz' Leben or Heines Krankheitsjahre, but the links aren't useful. You can find the picture even here (in another version and without author information) and here (without information). I think we could find the picture in Edda Ziegler's Heinrich Heine. Thanks for uploading File:Cannstatt Denkmal Wilhelm I. mit weniger Sockel.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. Der WLM-Countdown hat begonnen[edit]

Hallo Xocolatl,

You can see directly in the follow link and clic over "Siguiente" ("Next") several times:

http://animalandia.educa.madrid.org/imagen.php?id=44442

If you wish (and I hope yes), you can send me (via fernando.lison@educa.madrid.org) some letters or/and a photo for your "contributor profile" in Animalandia:

I want show to my students (and so everybody) that Animalandia is make for "real person", and I can tell them about "generosity", "share" and other similar words that we use very few at this time...

This is my "contributor profile" and others, for example:

file Franz Joseph Niemann.jgp[edit]

Hallo Xocolatl. Category discussion warning

Dancing people has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Mithilfe also sehr willkommen! --Xocolatl (talk) 23:34, 4 August 2019 (UTC)(S[reply]

Triplec85 (talk) 16:49, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Kurgarten (Bad Mergentheim)[edit]

In diesem Sinne ... --HubiB (talk) 16:16, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
--Xocolatl (talk) 21:37, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Karlsbad 25 (Bad Mergentheim)[edit]

--HubiB (talk) 16:41, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Siehe weiter oben. --Xocolatl (talk) 16:57, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments 2019[edit]

Hallo Xocolatl,

--Xocolatl (talk) 19:49, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Magic Lantern Slides[edit]

Hello Sir or mam,

I am incredibly excited to have people interested in the locations of these slides. I acquired all these slides from a Yard Sale in San Antonio Texas.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garage_sale

I immediately Scanned them attempted to identify the locations where i could and uploaded them to wikimedia since they are clearly public domain at this point.

These slides are glass with a positive image on each one, they were called "Magic Lantern slides" in which they would be projected onto a wall.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_lantern

Im assuming this is a European Vacation because there seems to be alot of the same people in many of the slides. the people I purchased these slides from said they were acquired by their now deceased father and have no real idea what they are about. they were loose in a box with about 20-30 slides being broken. I have put them in makeshift plastic slides intended for Baseball cards and put into a binder. If I can donate them to a museum I will do so. I would prefer to see these preserved than perhaps broken.

I am a photographer, retired soldier and avid Wikimedia contributor. I would love to see history preserved.

I also have a few Glass plate negatives, one i would love to see donated to the French Military for preservation. If you can help me contact them that would be great

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:French_Military_Medical.tif

Finally I would love to read that thread you linked. I will have to figure out how to translate from German.

thank you so much.

You may put a machine-translation of the de:WP:AU-talk into some Etherpad (e.g. https://pad.riseup.net/p/translated_disk_eu-vac-slides-keep ), so willing germans may correct it to proper Translation where needed, with minimal effort. --Itu (talk) 04:26, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I will attempt to locate them.

Sí, he vist aquestes pàgines.
Cerca a Google "pharmacie cuony friburg".

Can you please suggest a place in Switzerland where this image could have been taken? There were very few places with paddle steamers. No river is as large as the one depicted. That's why I moved the categories outside from Switzerland.--MHM (talk) 08:44, 4 September 2020 (UTC)4[reply]

The Rhône is wide enough by Lake Geneva. But your skepticism is justified. None of the bridges in the corresponding category match this picture... --Xocolatl (talk) 09:08, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We now believe that it is the Dombrücke in Cologne. It is astonishing, however, that such specific information was given in the source... --Xocolatl (talk) 11:41, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bilder katalogisieren[edit]

Sonvilier[edit]

Gestumblindi (talk) 00:06, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

O, cool, danke! Gruß --Xocolatl (talk) 07:38, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
--Xocolatl (talk) 21:04, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
;-) --Xocolatl (talk) 00:15, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
--Xocolatl (talk) 18:49, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
--Xocolatl (talk) 19:02, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hast Du an sowas Interesse?

Properly sourced Flickr photographs[edit]

Please take a look at the source page for images from Flickr when you list for deletion. "private picture that happened to find its way onto the internet" is inaccurate and inappropriate if the photo is a properly sourced free licensed photo publicly shared on Flickr. (If you think the photo is out Commons:Project scope, state that you think the photo is out of scope.) Cheers, -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 18:18, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

One can, however, doubt that personal rights were taken into account everywhere, even if a license was chosen that complies with the conditions on Commons. Some of the pictures are quite old. The original uploader has probably not yet considered the consequences of his actions. Cheers --Xocolatl (talk) 18:23, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of license tags[edit]

I notice that you have recently removed the license tags and authorship and source information from files because they appeared to be incorrect. Please do not do this, as it creates more work for others. Instead, please fix the files by adding the appropriate source, authorship, and license information or nominate them for deletion. Please let me know if you have any questions. AntiCompositeNumber talk 21:26, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks... --Xocolatl (talk) 21:39, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
 • When you delete the source and date, you are removing the source and date of the derivative copy, which is accurate data. If you want to swap in information on the original source that is fine, or switch to template:Art_Photo which has room for the original and derivative information. --RAN (talk) 02:17, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Categoría Historia[edit]

Hola, mucho gusto.

--Xocolatl (talk) 20:34, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Xocolatl,

I have uploaded the picture after permissions. Kindly help on how to proceed.

Deletion of my Content[edit]

The Image you suggested for deletion is a Library view of Pen Resource University Gombe, it poses no threat or harm to anyone rather a good one for reference VaisahPeter (talk) 20:33, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
