First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|correct name}}
  • For more information read the full deletion guidelines

Imperial Eagle of the Prussian-German Empire 1888-1918[edit]

Hello,

Because of copyright reasons I won't furnish you with my original vector file, since this special piece of work took ages, and further I see no real reason why you would need a vector file for your study. All I can do for you is sending you a bigger pixel-version of the image.

Best Regards David Liuzzo (talk) 12:19, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, then I'll send you a vector version of my Illustration, but linked with following conditions:

- This self-drawn high-detail illustration is my own interpretation of the Reichsadler 1889-1918; therefore it stays under my copyright and I as the author and source shall be mentioned at the appropriate places. - I would like to have a copy of the results of your study, because it seems to be a quite interesting one.

There are some more details you should know about the Illustration: The main source for creating this piece had been a black-and-white illustration in a reprint of Siebmachers Wappenbuch; Of course I did and could not stick in an identical way to the version depicted there, but I could send you a copy of the original page for comparison, too. My version is in most cases more detailed when it comes to details of the collar, Prussian CoA or crown, which included quite some research. But there are also some details which still have to be reworked, such as the details of the Eagle, since there aren't as many thunderbolts at the basement. So the version you see here on wikipedia is not the final one, there'll be more refinements in the future. --David Liuzzo (talk) 23:22, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
